Season is cooked

Post by bleedspeed »

It is official. DC is done for the year. We are getting derailed by the injury bug again this year. Losing Cook really hurts this team since he added a new demission to the team. The defense is going to have to step up even more and start forcing turnovers to compete. I can't lie. I have thought we might want to start looking at next year, but the defense is in its prime.

Michael Floyd to the rescue!!!

In all seriousness though if Floyd is healthy a group of Thielen Diggs Floyd and Rudolph could be pretty good if the oline can hold up. Murray and McKinnon need to step up though. Murray says his ankle isn't 100% and it's still sore but he is ready. I've been disappointed in McKinnon he hasn't stepped up the last 2 years and I have been a fan of his.

The bottom line is that this team still has enough talent to win games but yes Cook being hurt is a big blow. The guy was playing terrific even if he wasn't catching al the passes he should make. Will this team show some resilience? Idk we will see. Hopefully they can beat a rookie QB.

We really just need Sam to come back. We have the weapons to have a high end passing offense with Murray/McKinnon being good enough in my opinion to run when the defense is spread out to defend us. Keenan just isn't quite starter material week in and week out. He's still missing guys and making bad protection calls. Get Sam or maybe even Teddy in there and we could pull a NE and just deal with a poor running game with a short passing offense.

Yeah, I agree that the season is not over. Cook looks to be an excellent back, but he's only a rookie and don't think our season rises or falls because of him. I was at the game yesterday and saw two very good football teams...the Lions won because they took the ball away from us three times, and we failed on 4 potential interceptions. But our defense looked really good, and gave Stafford as much trouble as any defense. If we don't turn the ball over, we might have held a good offense to only 3 points. Floyd will step in nicely as a third receiver, and although I would like Sam to come back, Keenum has looked terrific the past two weeks. It's a tough break to lose Cook, but this team can still have some success this season.

I pretty much agree with what you say here. It's tough to ask a backup QB to win on the wrong side of a 3 turnovers and a missed FG. At least the Vikings only had 2 penalties for 10 yards.

Getting Bradford back for at least the 2nd half of the season would give us a chance. Until then I think Keenum could give us a legit shot at being .500 and while that's not exciting it gives them a plenty decent shot at the playoffs. The Vikings are always interesting in some way shape or form.

It's kinda crazy to think about but at this moment you could argue the WRs with Diggs and Thielen are the strength of the offense. The offensive line seems maybe serviceable and now who knows what we will have at QB and the RB situation is about what we have gotten used to the last couple years. Sigh.

Some good news...at least our kicker isn't Nick Folk. His performances the last 2 weeks have made Forbath somewhat attractive. Lol
