Abe - I remember. It was a long time ago. I think they might be on pair. I like the idea that Jennings is more of a scorer than Rubio. Any idea how Jennings is at finishing in the paint?

Sure. But it's also conceivable Jennings still thinks he's better. And is more than a bit bitter that Rubio is making $54M compared to his $28M... after also signing a larger rookie deal.

So to arrive here as his backup? The egos of many NBA players might make that a tough sell...

[Note: Conjecture. Obviously. But made from anecdotal evidence in NBA history. No idea about Jennings finishing ability.]

I think it comes down to if you think Zach is a PG moving forward. Than you might be better off going Fournier or Crabbe, but I think they will cost more. I think Jennings is a buy low player.

It seems like Jennings has had some interest around the league as a trade target so he might not come quite as cheap as I thought. In addition I would think he would have to really believe in his talent to beat out Rubio Lavine Tyus at PG plus Wiggins Bazz for guard minutes. There is a path for him to be a starter here but there is a lot of options.

Also if you are curious about his finishing at the rim...

Monster - Thanks for the link. Man Rubio is just so bad of a shooter. It is crazy. 40% by Jennings looks incredible next to him shooting numbers.

Thanks for asking that question it made me frame Jennings a little differently in my mind because was thinking he didn't get to the rim much and took a lot of long 2's. he doesn't get to the line (I remember comparing him to Knight when that deal went down) but he takes a decent amount of shots near the basket and we know he jacks up 3's. The problem at times is Jennings has gotten a rep as a bad defender in addition to jacking up shots. It seemed earlier in his career he was ok at defense but idk really where he is at at this point.

Not really. He's a career 39% shooter from the floor on almost 15 shots per game. That hurts your team more than Rubio's 36.4% on only 9 shots per game for his career. Jennings has always been a chucker, and when he's not able to score, he's damn near useless. Rubio's elite in other areas that compensate for his inability to score.

I'm not much of a fan of Brandon Jennings, but let's look at Jennings a bit closer.

He was good enough to start on a couple of playoff teams. Granted, they weren't great teams. But he was good enough to start. His career PER is 16.3, with a career high of 19.7 last year until he was injured. Rubio's PER is 15.7 for his career... with a career high of 17.5 this season. And he's never played on a playoff team, of course.

Not claiming Jennings is better. And I understand those are very specific stats. But I just grabbed something quickly to hint that Jennings might not be completely useless when he's not scoring or shooting well.

Has anyone brought up Robbie Hummel as a target?

No, but I'm always willing to volunteer!

Hypothetical question: What if Hummel played every minute this season in place of Bazz? Would we have won more, lost more, or been about the same?

I know my answer!
