Top 30 PG's in NBA

Rubio ranked 10th. Pretty impressive.

Rubio's strengths are stronger and his weaknesses weaker than just about any other player's on the board. Including his international career, it feels as if Rubio has been around forever, but he's still only 25. He'll put it all together some day, and this feels like the year.

Hidden talent: Whether you look at defensive RPM, steal rate, offensive fouls or rebounds, Rubio is elite on defense. If Bledsoe isn't the best point guard defender, it's Rubio.

Taking it to the next level: Turnovers, finishing and outside shooting -- Rubio has been near the bottom of the barrel in each. The outside shot should probably be the priority.

I have always viewed Rubio of the past 4 seasons - when healthy - as a top 15 PG. I don't know if 10 is too high or 15 is too low, but somewhere in that ballpark. That range obviously inches up for each step forward he takes with his shooting and finishing, as I can't imagine there is much more he can do to improve in the other facets of the game since he's already elite.

But besides being an average to slightly above average starting NBA PG, his fit with the team in this phase of its development couldn't be any better. Who better than a pass-first/defensive-oriented PG guiding young talent like Towns and Wiggins early in their careers?

We'll see if he can ever make shooting/finishing less of a weakness (it will never be a strength), but even if he just stays healthy and produces as he always has, I love him on this team.

I've noticed some improvement in ricky's ability to finish at the tin. Very good to see.

Rubio has lowered his TO rate after a couple years in the league and I have never thought that was really a significant weekness after dipping just below 3 turnovers a game as a pure passing PG. Maybe he doesn't finish high in assist to turnover rate but there is no reasonable comparison to Rubio to scoring PGs that don't pass much. CP3's 2.3 TO a game last year is absurdly good. Rubio is off to a fantastic start and if Sam's system plays out similar to what Flip did last year Rubio is gonna be piling up assists like he never has before.

Through 95 minutes, Ricky Rubio's difference in Assist Ratio & Turnover Ratio is 34.2, which is higher than Curry (13.1), Paul (19.6).
