no miller anytime soon

Post by kekgeek »

Mitchell praised ball movement when Miller entered. Asked him if he considered putting him in earlier. No. Wants young guys to learn.

Miller is not the answer to anything. He has his own shortcomings that would surely come to the forefront during the competitive phase of any game. Here is what I would do: Start Rubio, Zach, Wiggins, Gorgui, and Towns. Shabazz is your 6th man and Tyus is your backup point guard. Get these guys in their best positions and let's actually do the developing that Sam keeps hinting at. I cringe at the crap Zach is getting from the board. We all know he's not a point guard, it's not his fault he is once again being forced to play it. He still can be a real nice compliment to Ricky at the 2. He's not ready to be a star at any position, but wow is Sam doing a disservice to his development.

I think Miller can help in that he can help get lavine, bazz , dieng, bjelica and martin going. Zach being forced to play pg is not doing him or the guys he share the floor with any good. Yeah, martin, bazz or zach could get on a hot streak and make the 2nd unit competitive but there just isn't much flow as they mostly do isolation.

Time to start bazz in place of prince. Bazz helps on the boards and bring physicality that the first unit dont have. Play Miller with lavine and martin in a small ball 2nd unit. Most teams go small with their bench anyway.

We also need pek healthy. Kg/bjelica/payne is not going to cut it for 48mins at pf. Kg cant play effectively for 20mins a night and bjelica is still finding his way. Payne should not get rotation minutes. We need pek to play 15-20 mins a night at center and towns and dieng to play some pf.

Andre Miller is one of the smartest players in the NBA. He just knows how to play the point. Sure, he's old. And there's no upside there.

But I think he can steady the ship for 10 minutes a night.

It's become painful to watch LaVine play PG. It's obvious to everybody, including LaVine. First step is to take Prince out of the rotation. One "mentor" on the court at a time is plenty. Give LaVine his 12 - 15 minutes at the 2. Let Wiggins, Martin and Muhammad battle for the rest of the minutes at the wings... with Wiggins getting the longest leash because the Wolves still consider him a possible star player.
