KAT respects KG and is glad he is here to give advice and mentor. He said it himself. That is all that matters in this issue. Almost all star NBA players who had early success had a veteran mentor on their team who they talk about as having a great impact on them. Who cares how to quantify the impact, if it makes KAT happy and is a common attribute of successful basketball players (and all successful people), then mentor away.

BINGO. Completely agreed, Q.

I guess I don't understand why you and Cam are on a mission to prove Towns is doing it on his own with little help. Why is it so bad to say he's ahead of schedule because he has really good help? You act like that belittles what he's done somehow when it doesn't. It helps him be better, quicker which makes him look a lot better at the end of the day.

Half the posts on this forum are about posters proving themselves to be "right". I'm guilty too - so not trying to be a hypocrite . But I think that's what's going on here (both sides of the argument). At the end of the day - who friggin cares if it's KG mentoring or his own talent. He's playing great so far and that's all that really matters - right?

I'm sure KG is of help, but I'm sorry, KG doesn't mentor a guy into what we saw tonight. That's God-given talent and years of hard work.

First off, KAT says nice things about everyone. That's just who he is. Second of all, I'm sure KG has provided some helpful tips and he's certainly a big help when they are actually on the floor together. But to think that KG has somehow transformed KAT with his Magic Mentoring Potion does a disservice to KAT himself and the work and time he's put into his game.

I didn't say transformed by KG and no one did. No one is giving any diservice to KAT's talent at all by saying they believe KG is and will have a positive impact on him. I suspect KAT is a good guy because he has had powerful mentors throughout his life. Which is why he values KG's mentorship. Mentorship is the hallmark of almost all successful people, and KG is likely continuing this trend in KAT's life. KAT is smart to look to KG as a mentor and to call him that, and I am sure he is taking in everything he can both on and off the court just like he says he is because he is a smart and successful kid. This isn't rocket science, if you want to be successful in your profession hang out with other successful people and learn as much as you can from them. There is a reason all successful players talk about this.

Well, it depends...before I agree with you, I just need to know one thing.

Do you think Cam or LST is right about KG mentoring Towns? :-d

It seems each side is perceiving the other side as extremists...

There is absolutely no arguing that Towns is an amazing talent. We are damn lucky to have him. And those of us that approve of the KG acquisition believe KG has a direct influence on the accelerated growth Towns is having. Those that didn't approve of the KG acquisition want to belittle KG's influence on Towns growth. And it seems neither side is going to be convince the other side one way or another. Which means it's probably somewhere inbetween.

But my side likes this quote from KAT tonight...

Timberwolves PR ?@Twolves_PR 1h1 hour ago Denver, CO
More KAT says he had a long chat with KG about the little things, and just tried to implement them tonight #at wolves

Yeah but KAT saying those things doesn't matter.

It's like grade school sports these days. We're not keeping score, so there is no way to actually prove who won. Therefore, EVERYONE is being declared a "winner" and you all go home with Participation Award trophies. Congratulations! Now let's all enjoy being 2-0.

Sorry SP! No disrespect intended. I still have mine along with my Presidential Fitness Award patches and fastest second grade "crab walk" and "Scooter race" times. If only I could have maintained that level of athletic excellence....
