Re: Wiggins prediction
I can't see Wiggins averaging a paltry 15 PPG considering last year 4+ points of his PPG total came from the free throw line, and I expect that to increase. Also, do we expect him to shoot 31% from three again? I don't think he's gonna be a long-range sniper, but I do see that number to be very improvable.
I'm hoping we get to see the OKC efficient version of Kevin Martin as the top scoring torch is passed to Wiggins. We could sure use that 45% FG / 43% 3P option as a secondary scorer to Andrew.

Better defensively, and that'll be evident by his play individually, but also the team's results.
I agree with these figures.

He's not going to have the ball to get to the line as much as he did last year. If you give Wiggins the ball a lot to get to the rim, then what does Ricky do on offense that adds value? We just can't have it both ways. Wiggins can't keep getting a high volume of shots and free throws and play with Ricky and Martin. If he plays with Ricky and Martin a lot of his offense is going to have to come off the ball which isn't an elite way to get to the line and get buckets in general. I think he'll finish around 17/3.5/1.5/1/1 with really good defense. I don't see too many boards going his way playing with Towns, KG and Ricky and he's not going to be asked to make plays for others to get his assist totals very high. I think when he gets the ball he'll be asked to score. I just don't expect a huge leap in stats. I think how value will be much higher on the defensive end which unfortunately just doesn't show up in traditional stats.

I have some advice for the next time someone feels the need to denigrate Andrew Wiggins:
Just Don't. It was surprising at first, now it's just annoying. We have much bigger issues.

I remember the good ole days when I would get bitched out for posting something like this to control the content on the board. If you don't like something, you don't have to read it. Simple as that.

I know - I practice that on a great deal of your stuff.

Cool, I'm curious if there are any examples of Wiggins denigration in this thread. The most inflammatory comments seem to be my suggestion that he will contribute 15 PPG, alex saying he didn't think he would get to the line more frequently than last year, and Q pointing out some areas where he'd like to see Wiggins improve (rebounding, catch and shoot 3's, and playing better off the ball). I don't see any of these as examples of unfair criticism at all. Or is at in another thread where there is unfair criticism? Just curious...don't want to annoy you :) .
I'm also not sure why my prediction of a 20-year-old second year player averaging 15 PPG is insane. The Wolves are a poor defensive team, but if they are healthy, they have a lot of offensive weapons, plus a couple of pass-first PGs who love to make potent scorers even more potent. Wiggins is one of those weapons for sure, but I don't see him as being as much of a volume scorer as Martin and Shabazz at this stage of his career. Or even Pek (prior to last year's lost season). He's a much more complete player than Martin and Shabazz by far and makes many contributions beyond scoring, but I still see them as better scorers. Maybe it's my optimistic viewpoint on the Wolves prospects in general for this season that has me thinking that Wiggins is not going to have to play the number of minutes he was forced to last year, and that he will have a lot more competition for points than he did when the other four guys on the court were Hamilton, Dieng, Zach and Bud. Wiggins doesn't seem to have a natural alpha dog personality, and tends to be deferential when there are other scorers on the court. We saw that his one year at Kansas, and we saw it when we were healthy last year. After we lost most of our other scorers, Flip pushed him to be more alpha dog, and it was nice to see him respond with 20 PPG when he had no other scorers on the court with him. It's not going to be that way this year...at least, I hope it's not going to be that way. I think this team will be much better if they spread the scoring and minutes around more than they were able to do last year.

But I've only been posting for your approval. What will I do now that I know King Cool doesn't read my stuff?

Re: Wiggins prediction
LST, when I say denigrating him I mean calling him a below average player. There are plenty of examples of that in this thread.
As far as your comment on his scoring average, I get your premise, but look at his monthly scoring averages last season. I just can't see him suddenly reversing trend and going backwards. He's going to be our best player in my opinion, and I just think he will get a ton of shots and improve as a total player from last year.

To explain further, why is there this infatuation to throw arrows at Wiggins? It just doesn't make sense to me.
