Wolves sports science guru Arnie Kander says Rubio is one of the 10 toughest players he's worked w/in 25 years in league

Two takeaways:
1) Rubio is not soft or a wussy as some here have claimed. This is further proof of that being a bunch of B.S. You can lament the fragility of his body, but not the competitor inside of it.

2) Pekovic won't be ready by mid-December as LST so optimistically predicted, BUT the fact that he continues to progress pain-free is a very good sign. I'm still not holding my breath.

Not claiming Rubio is a wuss. Or that Kander isn't being brutally honest.

But if I was an astute PR guy and the team's highest priced player was sitting out games again for what seemed like "minor" issues... leaking a story to the press about the player being tougher than what people might think wouldn't be the dumbest idea.

I hear you, but the reason I don't view this with a similar dose of cynicism is because of the way Rubio plays when he is on the floor. He competes as hard or harder than anyone else on the team. So the "eye test" squares with the information we're hearing.

Yeah and if Rubio actually is so tough AND he still hasn't played a decent chunk of games this year isn't that a worry also? Overall these tweets are probably positive and I do think Kander is legit which helps.

I agree with all 4 of your guys' takeaways from these informative tweets:
1)Ricky is tough
2) I was overly optimistic with my 12/15 prediction for Pek's return...sounds more like 1/1 now
3) Wolves' PR blew it on this one by not protecting Rubio. The role of the PR group is more important now that the smooth Flip has been replaced by the coarse Sam. The team allowed Ricky's toughness to be questioned by fans like us, when it shouldn't have been
4) And this is the most difficult takeaway: our most important player has a body that fails him too often.

I think my main takeaway is that Kander is trying something new with Rubio. And for a fanbase starving for new results there is a bit of frustration and anticipation. But if this makes him more healthy in the long run, then I am for trusting Kander now. It's clear whatever was tried in the past had disastrous results, but hearing Kander talk I trust that he has a unique outlook and methodology. Maybe he will be wrong and Rubio will never play more than 50 games. But I am still optimistic.

Nope, once you've gone full Porkchop beef is forever off the menu!

I've become a verb! The ultimate compliment; )
Also ,who is calling Ricky a wuss. I can't think of anyone on here calling him that. Becuz a guys injury prone does not make him a wimp. Not in my eyes. No one's questioning his wanting to stay on the court or that he works hard to get back from injuries. He's just always hurt. .....

Ahem. And can't shoot.

How does one guy mentioning it turn into a narrative in multiple threads?

I dont take notes but I recall a couple few comparing their turned ankles and their recovery time to what happened to Ricky.

Remember when another PG from the 2009 draft class was supposed to be the one with a career in jeopardy because of bad ankles?
