2nd Round - Chasson Randle

Post by Leado01 »

We've got a ridiculous amount of youth on this team - with tons of potential. I'd like to see us take a known commodity in the 2nd round (if we don't trade it) and go get Chasson Randle. I loved his game at Stanford and feel like he'd fit into a Flip offense better than the guards we currently have on the roster with his ability to play within the game and his ridiculously accurate FG% from 12-14 feet. He reminds me of Terrell Brandon (imo the best pg we ever had). He's bright, with a known excellent work ethic and is ready to play either pg or sg.

Just my two cents. If you've seen him play

I like your thinking about targeting Rubio's backup in the second round, but I don't know that Randle is the right guy. I admittedly haven't seen him play, but I read that he is not a good defender and his assist totals are not very good (only 3pg his senior year). He's a scorer, but his shooting percentages aren't the best. I think there are better PG options out there. Deion Wright is my favorite if he is available, and I love the upside of George De Paula. I think I would probably prefer Andrew Harrison too over Randle.

Anyway, I don't know that he will be drafted in the second round, so maybe he's the kind of guy we could sign for Summer League to see what he's got.

There's probably two handfuls of guard prospects I'd rather have over him.

Just remember when planning for our back pg ur probably gonna be seeing him as our starter for a good number of games too. I'd like to see an experienced vet or we go all in on a blue chip prospect. l

I'm with you there. I would prefer a vet PG either in a trade or a Mo Williams type MLE free agent. I'm not sold on many of the rookie PGs that are slotted to go in the middle of the first but I would be alright with Tyus Jones or Delon Wright if all we had to give up were our seconds and Bennett (begrudgingly I would also include Beljica even though I would love to see him next to Towns)

We should still go after Scotty Willbieken, I think he's in Austrailia or something.

I just read where the Spurs are eyeing Randle - the Jazz worked him out. I think we miss the boat on good role players that are smart, take direction, and understand basketball. Randle will make it in the league because of those qualities.
