Re: Gorgui Dieng
Why don't we leave Bjelica in Europe one more year to let our log jam clear itself up? It makes little to no sense to bring him over this year given we'll have 5 players who can play the 4. A year from now could easily have AB hitting free agency, KG retiring and Towns proving to be more 5 than 4. Or it could provide a long term solution at the position if certain young guys step up. Payne and Bennett simply need 1 more shot (Payne probably two because of the value given up to get him) before we dump them off to the side.

I think a 9 man rotation is too thin. Especially if Pek and KG are part of the rotation. 11 seems about right to me.

Thinking this
PG: Rubio - 36 minutes
SG: Martin - 28 minutes
SF: Wiggins - 36 minutes
PF: KG - 20 minutes
C: Towns - 28 minutes
6: Pek or Dieng - 28 minutes
7: LaVine - 28 Minutes
8: Shabazz - 16 Minutes
9. Dieng or Payne or Bennett (20 minutes)
Yeah - 9 doesn't work.

I can't think of a season in recent memory where this squad had a problem ultimately finding enough minutes for people, even if it didn't start off that way. Do we really think KG and Pek are going to consistently sop up 48 minutes per game? We'll be lucky if either guy plays 1/4th of the available minutes at their respective position next season.
I have absolutely no concern Dieng will get regular playing time if he remains on the roster.

It sucks that he probably won't get a lot of playing time if we stay healthy, but Pek is better than him and Towns will likely be better as well. The future rotation doesn't need to be set this year. He's still on his rookie deal so you keep him for the next two years and he may fetch something better via a trade otherwise he is quality depth for cheap. Then you see what he can fetch in restricted free agency to determine whether to keep him beyond that.
Have to agree with this take. We need Dieng for depth/insurance. I have no doubt he'll be required to play heavy minutes next year at some point.
My hope is that someone instills some discipline and better technique in the guy defensively. He'll never be strong defending the post, but there is stuff he does that is just silly for a guy with his pedigree, like biting on pump fakes and trying to take charges with his arms down when walling up would be far more effective. This is where Flip and his staff woefully fell short last year.

If only there was someone on the roster with a lanky awkward body type to teach teach Dieng defensive technique. ;)

Having a good starting center is absolutely critical to winning a title.

Imagine for a moment that he doesn't. Imagine if you will a healthy season in which all of the teams top players play a full season!!
On the count of three I'll snap my fingers and you will wake up, remembering none of this foolishness.

Of course! Another customer for KG's Magic Mentoring Potion©. I'm just not sure there is enough to go around!

- Bogut definitely helped get them to the destination. He wasn't needed against Cleveland, but he served a very valuable purpose along the journey.
- Let's not kid ourselves. Duncan has played Center for years now.
- Joel Anthony.....Got me there. Of course having two HOF wings in Wade and LeBron helped. Same thing in Chicago's run with Jordan and Pippen. I will concede that if Wiggins and LaVine become the next LeBron/Wade or Jordan/Pippen, a good starting Center isn't very important.
