I live in Lincoln NE so the local guys talk Huskers most of the time. I've listened to Paul Allen on pregane shows on my to way watch the Vikings at a Friends house. Annoying homer. Maybe his daily show is good. His spot with Speilman the other day at OTA was good enough I guess.

Barreiro seems decently interesting when I listen to parts of his show listening to funkadelic and some before and after that. My guess is he has some interesting takes on stuff outside sports but delves into it more than would be interesting after a while.

What I have to compare...The 2 local shows I listen to here are decent if you care at all about college sports. One young guy (early afternoon) drove me nuts at first but I think he has improved some and I also realize these guys have to talk for hours everyday about sports. Dream job I realize they get paid to to this but it has to be hard to find something to talk about to a certain extent. He has fun and doesn't take himself too seriously and does talk more diverse sports which is nice. The later afternoon show is pretty good pretty professional they get some really legit guests and have reasonable takes. Again it's alot about Nebraska and college sports but hey that's the market and they do it well. You get some pretty good stuff about pro sports at times too though.

I can't listen to any sports radio too regularly the same stuff gets talked about over and over whether its local or national. Thank goodness for free downloadable books frmthe liberty for my over hour long drive every day for work. Lol

One thing I do like about Barreiro is when they do the comparison of the Vikings to 85 Bears with a total homer slant player by player before season starts. I am not sure if he does it every year or not, but I caught it once and it was very entertaining. I would love to see some do that with the Wolves vs 95-96 Bulls.

I also listened to a recent conversation he had with Paul Majors.

I usually only surf KFANs on demand for Wolves related content. Barriero is the only one I would probably choose to tune in for.

You guys have to remember they all are employed by KFAN. That said, I think they all have their roles---within each of their own shows---among the KFAN family.

PA----He's a pumper (stock term). Gets you really hyped for all of the local teams. If they stick and do well---then he was right all along. LOL. As he would think. And if he's wrong then there's always next year. He is very entertaining though.

Common Man---He's suppose to be the unorganized half sports fan that sometimes make fun of PA. He's on a noon for a reason, people are out to lunch and not at their workstations to listen too...LOL. He's very witty with "bits" outside of the sports world.

Barriero----He's the cautious optimistic sports guy with a bigger take on the daily activities in this world. To me, he plays the devil advocate role a lot and tries to get people to open up their minds.

All 3 are entertaining in their ways.

I agree with your take here. They all have their benefits for me, and I enjoy them all to an extent. PA bugs me the most though.

PA - he's the purveyor of positivity for a reason, he rarely has a negative thing to say and the Vikes are almost guaranteed to win 9 games in every preseason prediction. He's the best combination of entertainment and actual sports knowledge of those 3 guys. He generally has pretty good guests as well but being the Vikings play by play guy most tend to be football related.

Common - he's a radio dinosaur and takes the esoteric approach to sports. He's easily the most entertaining of the 3 but if you're looking for hardcore sports 24/7 you won't find him very appealing. His PST segment is the best of his bits and usually there's some pretty good lines especially by Gorg. He actually comes across as a smart guy if you're able to sort through all his bits, don't be fooled by him reeling you in or if he's just trying to "get rosie going." Also don't panic if your phone goes silent, it hasn't stopped working, it's simply a dead air bit.

Barreiro - he's really good from time to time but he's my least favorite of the 3. He ventures outside the toy department a bit too much for my liking but I guess some people go for that political stuff.

He couldn't figure out that 10 games over .500 is 86 - 76. It was explained to him 3 times and he couldn't get it.

Unfortunately my job is now during his show so I don't get to listen as often but it's most likely a bit. He's generally looking to fill his 3 hours so he'll often stretch stuff like that out.
