Our stable of BIGs

Post by 60WinTim »

Last year's BIGs were Pek, Dieng, Turiaf, Young and Bennett (and Hummel if you want to count him). Obviously, that was not enough.

How many BIGs would you want heading into next year? Assuming both Pek and KG are on the roster, is six enough? Or would you carry seven BIGs, knowing that on any given night, Pek and KG may not be available?

I suppose the path of least resistance is drafting a BIG and bringing over Bjelica. That would be seven BIGs according to my math. Is that reasonable? Or would that be a big disappointment?

I think we need to dump Payne if we draft Towns or Okafor. I would target a big or pg in the second round.

You keep Payne and Bennett this year no matter what. I don't see them selling at basement level on either ofthem... so wwith peak, kg, and dieng you're at 5. You let Hamilton and Hummel go. Sign the European to guarantee 6 bigs. The draft shouldn't matter in this regard, you draft BPA and end up with either 6 or 7 bigs.

Flip will not dump Payne. Come on, he just traded a future 1st for a rookie big, and we talk of doing anything to get rid of him? Not to mention 2 of our main bigs are injury prone or old.

Yeah, it's hard to imagine Flip giving up on Payne without having an off-season and training camp to work with him, especially having spent a 1st rounder on him.

An interesting thought on KG: if he really wants to own a piece of the team, isn't now a better time to invest than a year or two from now? I know he will "listen to his body", but from a business perspective, now seems the more opportune time to invest in the team (the old "buy low, sell high" adage).
