Re: Bennett or Payne
I would assume Bennett. Payne will be 24 next year....he probably only has one or two more years - max, to prove himself an NBA player. I think Bennett might have more time based on age and the fact that he was a former #1 overall (think Michael Olowokandi or Kwame Brown type careers).

Neither look good right now. Might as well be choosing between Major Payne and Tony Bennett. Let's just hope for both The Best is Yet to Come...

Trade the one that doesn't require a first round pick be included.

Too early to tell. Not a big fan of either, but they both deserve more time. I think Payne has a better disposition for the game though.
Re: Bennett or Payne
I don't have much confidence in either, but I'm not quite ready to completely write off either one. On balance, I hold out more hope for Bennett. He's 2 years younger and had better stats as a freshman than Payne had as a college senior. He is more fluid and has a much better looking shot. Just when I think Flip knows what he's doing as our top front office guy, he gives up a future 1st round pick (likely in the teens) for Payne. I doubt any of the other 29 teams would give Flip anything higher than a mid-second rounder for Payne. I want to believe in Flip; I really do. But the Thad and Payne deals along with selling picks makes it difficult.

Hopefully Payne develops, but that trade is horrible. Payne did nothing on Atlanta. Why trade a future first for a guy who has done nothing on his team?

Re: Bennett or Payne
I voted Bennett...much more upside than Payne.
But the real issue has been how disappointing both these guys have been so far. The dropoff in their performance from college to the pros is Stauskas-like. Bennett at UNLV was a physically dominant, sweet-shooting efficient scorer. Payne at MSU was a smart, hustling glue guy...a coach's dream who could always be relied upon to make the big play. It's hard to see either of these guys in their NBA performance.
If either of these guys can rediscover their college game, we will have our starter at PF. I'm not giving up, but not holding my breath either.

Re: Bennett or Payne
Flip is just making a complete mess of this PF situation. So far we have about 5 backups and no starter.
