Play GM
Who is your HC next year?
Let's assume we get the first pick in the draft, who you picking?
What trades do you make?
Who are your free agent targets?
I really like the future of our team. I think we are two good offseasons and drafts away from being a playoff contender. I'm interested to see what you guys would do.

Re: Play GM
Headcoach: Fred Hoiberg and I'd do everything in my power to sugarcoat the deal! If not I'd look at Thibs if he doesn't sign on with Bulls or Billy Donavon and maybe Tom Izzo.
1st pick: Karl Towns.
Trade Anthony Bennett to Raptors for Greivis Vasquez.
Resign:
KG (1 year vet min)
Neal (2 years 6 mil)
Brown & Hamilton (1 year min)
PG - Rubio / Vaquez / Brown
SG - LaVine / Martin / Neal
SF - Wiggins / Muhammad / Budinger
PF - Dieng / KG / Payne
C - Towns / Pekovic / Hamilton

Here's my guess as to what's going to happen:
Flip will return as Head Coach next year.
We will draft the best available Big
The only (significant) trade I could see happening at this point would be for Martin, but I don't think they could get value back, so I see it as only a small chance. Bazz and Bennett might also get shopped IMO.
I'd be surprised if they did any major acquisitions in Free Agency. Maybe a vet PG to replace Mo W.
I think the major changes for next year will be:
1.) Getting injured players back i.e. Rubio/Pek
2.) Top 4 draft pick will probably be a starter
3.) Adding at least one other established Vet player via trade or FA
The rest will be bench/depth moves IMO.
Re: Play GM
Interesting idea TRKO. Matt, I'm mostly with you on that one, although I don't about that trade idea.
As far as trades go the guys I'd look to trading are Martin & Bud (if he opts in) for sure. Basically I'd be looking to keep Neal and trade Martin.

Nailed it Carlos.
I don't see any trades happening unless we fall out of the top 2 maybe. Also the 2nd rounders are always fair game to get dealt around these parts.
I would love to get Jameer Nelson to be our backup PG but I'm not sure he would be available/interested in coming here.
Here is my wishlist for things that should happen but won't
1.) New training staff. The whole Mayo Clinic training center shtick we all saw all year on TV didn't do shit. Get people who can actually help treat high level athletes.
2.) Hire a defensive savant as part of the coaching staff. Get Sidney Lowe's ass out of here and bring in Mike Malone or someone of his ilk. DREAM SCENARIO: THIBS AS HEAD COACH
3.) Bring in our Euro big and make Payne and Bennett compete for playing time, whoever doesn't perform leaves town.
4.) Use our second round picks for something other than $$$

Re: Play GM
This is a cool exercise. Here goes...
Trades:
#1: Kevin Martin + 2nd for houston's pick + McDaniels
Houston: 18th pick and rights to KJ McDaniels, receives Martin + 36th pick
MN Trades Martin, receives 18th pick and McDaniels' rights
Martin should be more valuable to the mid tier playoff teams than a mid first round draft pick. He's less valuable to us now since his minutes and touches stand in the way of the development of LaVine and Shabazz. I don't see a real reason to hold on to him going into next season as we already have several offensively focused wings. McDaniels is a great young defensive player that the Rockets would not likely have the space to re-sign. I think this benefits both teams.
#2: Bennett goes home
Toronto Trades: Lucas Nogueira, Receives: Anthony Bennett
MN Trades: Bennett, Receives: Lucas Nogueira
Looking at Toronto's books, they have a ton of deals that expire at the end of this season. I think they can use a bit of that cap space to take a flier on a home town kid. In exchange the wolves get a look at Nogueira whose low salary opens up roughly 5m in extra space next season.
Draft:
#1 Pick: Karl Towns
#18 Pick: Delon Wright
#31 pick:George Lucas (stashed)
FA Signings:
Ed Davis - 2 years 5m per yr (with the caveat that we could alternatively sign Nemanja Bjelica for similar $).
Kevin Garnett - 1 year, 2m
McDaniels - 2 years at 3m per year with a player option in year 3
Roster:
PG: Rubio, Wright, LaVine
SG: Wiggins, LaVine, McDaniels
SF: Shabazz, Budinger, McDaniels
PF: Davis, KG, Payne. Dieng
C: Dieng,Towns, Pek (likely injured), Noguiera
With regard to coaching I kind of doubt flip leaves, but I think with this roster we're good for close to 40 wins, even with expected injuries to Pek etc.

Re: Play GM
These threads are always fun but never happen so I like to go all out, here's what I'd "realistically" do.
Head coach:
Charles Barkley, I actually think he seems like a pretty smart guy when it comes to basketball but this would be worth it just for the half time and post game interviews.
Trades:
Pek and 1 for Cousins
3 team deal with GS and LA - Bennett to GS, Shabazz and GS 1st to LA, Lee and Randle to MN
Lineup:
Rubio/Neal/Brown
Martin/LaVine/Rashad Vaughn
Wiggins/Justin Anderson/Bud
Lee/Randle/Payne
Cousins/KG/Dieng

Re: Play GM
HC: Thibs Or JVG (I know he turned us down next year but Wiggins changes everything) or another candidate know for defense
Draft:Okafor
Trades and FA: Anyone other than Wiggins Bazz, LAvine and Rubio to free up enough cap room to sign David West (I know it is a pipe dream)
West and Okafor would be a great 4/5 combo.

Here's how great Barkley is as a basketball mind.
Last week he said DeAndre Jordan was the Clippers' best player. Yep, over CP3 and Blake Griffin.
Case closed. He's entertaining, but he'd be a joke as a head coach.
