Re: The beginning of the end
Why would Flip turnover the team in a year or two right when our young guys are starting to shine and the team looks like it is turning it around and could be good moving forward? He even said in his presser that he will choose when he steps down as the coach. Doesn't sound like he's too worried about being forced out by Taylor. It's a lose-lose. He either shits the bed and does some serious long-term damage coaching the team before he steps down or even if we become a good team do you really think Flip is a championship caliber coach? I don't see a true winning situation if he stays as the coach and the longer he coaches the more likely he'll be to keep coaching and thus our winning potential is limited.

Why? Because Glen tells him he has to. You're correct that Flip isn't likely to willingly give up the reins, but Glen is his boss, and if he says find a new coach, Flip will have to find a new coach. We tend to attribute more power to Flip than he really has, given that he is PBO, coach and (very) minority owner. But Glen really holds all the cards, and Flip ultimately has to do what Glen wants or risk being fired as PBO also.

But Taylor is the ultimate reason behind the "country club" approach that's plagued the organization in one way or another for quite awhile... isn't he?
Bringing back Saunders and Garnett (along with Lowe and Mitchell) doesn't give me hope that the approach is changing any time soon.
[Note: I think the Wolves have terrible assistant coaches. My feelings on Lowe being arguably the worst big-time coach ever are well known. But wasn't Mitchell more of a "rah rah" guy than anything? I don't want that from an assistant coach. I'm cool with it from the head coach. I want smart basketball minds who can change the way the game is played BEFORE others figure it out. Lowe and Mitchell seem woefully behind the times to me... go let them join the staff of other former players like Bryon Scott and Derek Fisher who are also struggling with the "new" NBA.]
