I don't doubt he has the support of a small faction of players, but I guarantee you the majority want him out.

I view it like the Miami situation where Wade pushed hard to keep Riley in the front office because of how grinding his coaching style is. Give the Bulls players a coach who doesn't grind as much and I doubt they would rather have kept Thibs at the end of the day.

Thibs will be looking to see if the defensive pieces are in place. Do the wolves have enough to entice him? I'm not sure.

If that's what Thibs will be looking for (money, winning potential, city / those probably come first), then I think he could be interested in a Rubio/Wiggins/Towns* trio to build around. LaVine has the tools to be a good defender; perhaps he could bring them out of him. He and KG seem to have had a really good relationship in Boston. Coach on the floor type personality seems to always be a good thing for head coaches.

We have some interesting pieces, but in the end, I think it'll be Flip's gig again. Probably for two more years and then he'll hand the team off to his son as a birthday present.

I happened to hear George Sedando's take on ESPN radio tonight and I thought it was interesting. He doesn't buy into the idea that Thibs is that great. His main argument is that he hasn't evolved. Offensively he is the same guy he has always been. He said you have to evolve or bring in an assistant to help with that and Thins hasn't. He also said he would absolutely hate to have him coaching a star running him into the ground. He said Thibs could be the worst thing for anthony Davis. I thought his take was pretty well thought out it was obviously much more complete than I said here.

What if we go after Coach Thibs?

The answer to this question is he wouldn't be interested unless he was offered Flip's position, like the setup in Milwaukee of Detroit. That's how loser franchses get big names.
