I punish my AAU players when they take a shot just inside the arc. I tell them it is the worst shot in basketball. Again, this isn't ground breaking stuff here. This prevailing wisdom has been around for decades.

Right, CP3 is a very good mid-range shooter. Again, there are some players like CP3, Curry, and a few others where an open 15 or 16 footer is a good shot. I'm not sure any shot just barely inside the arc is a good shot, unless that is simply all that is available and the shot clock is almost to zero.

CP3 is the best mid-range shooter in the league at around 50%. That still only takes a 33% 3pt shooter to match. League average 3pt shooters can match the shot efficiency of the best midrange shooters in the league. Hence why the push for the 3pt shot is real and showing in the teams advancing in the playoffs.

Top 5 for three pointers attempted in 2015:

1. Rockets (56 - 26 / WCF)
2. Warriors (67 - 15 / WCF)
3. Clippers (56 - 26 / lost game 7 semifinals)
4. Cavs (53 - 29 / ECF)
5. Hawks (60 - 22 / ECF)
30. Wolves (16 - 66)

Wolves were 28th in spot up shooting accuracy with 35.5%. Houston was just above them 27th with 35.9%. But in eFG% of spot up plays Minnesota was dead last with 43.8% and Houston was 13th with 50.3% because they shoot mainly 3-pointers.

NBA.com contains nice stats about offensive efficiency for different play types. It would be nice to do some comparison about Flip's offense vs. most efficient offences.
