The best value we could get for him is if we package him with another player. A guy like martin/bazz/dieng. What do you think of a bud+dieng for avery bradley trade? Celtics need a center and have 2 combo guards already in smart and thomas( 3 if they look to retain turner). Il only look to trade dieng if we are assured of towns or okafor.

No thanks, Bradley is good defender but his offensive game is lackluster and he does not have the playmaking skills to be a backup PG. He'll be making 7+ million for the next several years and his below average shooting is the last thing we should be looking for.

I think that Dieng still has a place on this roster. His defense has been hard to watch since a few games before the all-star break but he is so underrated as an offensive big. I think he is too talented to give up for a guy that has already reached his ceiling. I wouldn't be opposed to moving him if the right player is avalible and we could use him plus other assets to move up in the draft though.

The best we can hope for is Dieng being able to learn to be a competent PF and backup KG next year. Let Bennett and Payne compete for the scraps. But then again I'm sure injures will provide plenty of opportunities for all our bigs

Volans, it seems you know little of bradley this season. He made strides in his offensive game the last two seasons and is a decent shooter from mid to long range.

I certainly understand not wanting to give up on dieng. The thought of trading dieng only happens when we are assured of landing towns or okafor.

Outside of wiggins, rubio and lavine, dieng and bazz has the most trade value, moreso than martin in my view. But they arent going to get us a star player in return. A solid rotation guy/ fringe starter is what we could get for dieng and bazz. Of course we could choose to keep them as well. But I do think we should keep our options open and maybe they could land us a better fit or balance out our roster.

I only watched a few Celtics games this season so I'm not going to say I have the book on this guy but his numbers haven't seemed great. I know whenever I visit a Celtics GDT on realgm the hate for Bradley can get a little out of hand (ala Thad, Barea, Bud here)

Just going of the numbers for this season - 14ppg, 2 assists, 35% from three, 42% from the field (both are down from his career averages) just a quick look at the numbers don't indicate any large strides. Without any real scorers on the team I would think he could put up better numbers but again didn't see many Celts games and I don't really get into advanced stats.

I'm sure you can convince me he would be a good fit but I don't see it. You're totally right that our roster needs some balancing done if we bring in Towns/Okafor/ (gasp) Porzingis but Dieng and Bazz are players I would keep (cheap and locked in for at least two more years)

I see people (idk if you are one of them world) making the case for staying patient with Payne but Dieng has a Mutumbo-esqe feel to him. He'll never be as strong or as intimidating as Diekmbe but I think he could be a decent starter if his bad habits are broken

If all we are getting back for either Dieng or Bazz is a fringe starter or worse what is the point? You keep both guys. Bazz really only thing holding him back is health from being a scorer off the bench but could be a legit starter. With the bigs on this team right now even if you get Okafor or Towns and they are pretty good right away there is likely still a place for Dieng and unless he has some really bad drop off it's not like his value is going to go down. He is a nice player on the roster and a trade chip also if there really isn't a spot for him but I doubt that happens.

Highly unlikely but what about a sign and trade of Martin and Bud for Asik and Pek and a second or two for Gordon. They get shooting that they desperately need and some SF depth with Bud that they don't have. Pek is a great offensive fit next to Davis and Davis and him make a formidable frontcourt. We get to dump Pek's deal, get a legitimate rim protector and Gordon is an expiring next year with another buffer year from the knee injury. Flip will probably take Towns and we end up with:

Ricky/Vet backup
Gordon/Lavine
Wiggins/Bazz
KG/Dieng/Bennett/Payne
Towns/Asik

I agree, it doesn't make sense to me to trade Dieng or Bazz especially if you are just swapping fairly equal skill level players. I want to see both of them next year. Dieng b/c I want to see if he makes strides playing with KG and Bazz b/c he was looking to have a good season last year before getting hurt.

That's quite intriguing.. and from both perspectives. Pek & Davis could be scary good if that bone shaving works for his foot. If I were to go for that though I would want Neal resigned or another shooter brought in for depth. I'm not sure.

I think we could get a second for Bud. He really improved his stock at the end of the year.

I think Asik is going to be a FA this offseason

Hence the sign and trade for him.

Has there ever been an instance where a guy is used in a S&T that makes less than the Max? Not saying it can't be done, but getting around the Max deal is usually what drives these trades. Asik clearly isn't a max type guy, and won't get that kind of money. Don't think the idea works because he can sign with anyone, and there will be suiters for him. I would love to have Asik though...so yeah.
