Wiggins is a huge disappoinrment

Post by Papalrep »

Flip ripped the team for using a development year as an excuse. It was left to Kevin Lynch to call him out. 32 minutes, 5 points, 9 rebounds. "The first player taken in the draft can't play that way". But he did. This guy will be fine of course because of hus gifts athletically, but he wont be great. What a dissapointment. Put KG's heart, or for that matter, Shabaz's heart into this guy, and you'd have something.

Wiggins made a couple of nice hustle plays. He had that offensive rebound putback and another play where he saved the ball from going out of bounds and it ultimately led to a Mo Williams 3. Unfortunately, those kind of plays are few and far between. It's clear that his offensive game is really raw, and it's only become worse as the season has progressed (he's shooting something like 35% over his past 10 games). That means he has to absolutely lock down on defense, rebound, and fine ways to make shit happen without being spoon-fed the ball.

agreed. If Flip wants to prove that development is what counts, he should rein in Wiggins' PT to see if Wiggins can perform in less time, because he's not making the most out of the minutes he gets, and simply going out there and underperforming AND losing is not development.

That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. I think I said that same thing on another thread.

Wildwolf, I think we've already started to see his minutes get pulled back a bit, especially with Budinger starting to play better.

Budinger, Martin, Daniels, and Muhammed are all more offensively-oriented players. Once all those guys are healthy, Wiggins will go back to being the designated wing defender who won't get much offense run through him. That means that if he wants to get points, he'll have to work off the ball to get them.

Flip is starting to blame his players which is starting to really wear out my once positive attitude about him. He claims they are only using 5% of his offense right now. We have probably the worst defense in the league right now. It sounds to me like a coach in over his head. Unless the guys just don't know the plays he needs to open the playbook. Running 5% worth of sets is probably getting pretty easy to defend. The only worthwhile assistant on the team is his son. Lowe and Mitchell are useless. I'm not a fan of the coach blaming the players when it is clear he is being outcoached on both ends of the floor night in and night out. This team needs to get to the all-star break badly to re-group and get practicing. He jumped on Adelman for not playing more zone defense and every time Flip has run that look it has been torched. I think it's pretty clear he should pass the torch to somebody else next year because his styles on both ends of the court don't work anymore. When you're the coach and the GM, the blame game stops at you. You put the roster on the floor and are responsible for coaching and developing it.

Flip the coach has to go, in my opinion. I really hope Hoiberg sees something he likes here (Rubio, Muhammad, Wiggins, LaVine, Dieng). We need a modern day coach. Flip's old school mentality doesn't cut it for me.

PS: Where the hell has this Budinger been? Two good games in a row. Is this real life? Still had two awful airballs, but I can deal with 13 points on 6-10 shooting. That's what I like to see Chase.
