I'm pretty sure this thread is tongue in cheek, but can it be over now? Does anybody really miss JJ Barea? Close your eyes and recall his maniacal dribbling around resulting in another blocked shot at the rim, or his totally ineffective defense. We should all be grateful that he is gone.

This thread is very tongue-in-cheek. Obviously. Barea and Young were the pariahs on the board, back-to-back years. People went to painstaking lengths to discuss their hatred of both players.

Initially, I found it entertaining that they both exploded on the same night... in the same game. But Barea is taking this to a new level. 18/26 on three pointers for a playoff team!

Damn. Obviously, it won't last... he's JJ Barea after all. But he sure seems to play his best ball in Dallas. And he's playing lights out over the past few games.


[Note: Seriously, look at Dallas' rosters. Carlisle is one hell of a coach. And Dirk... he STILL plays in a way that just opens everything up for everybody else. He's a legendary player.]

His first year playing for Adelman he was very effective. I said the whole time he was here JJ was an effective basketball player. I'm not saying the wolves made a mistake by letting him go because they didn't (they signed Mo and then were able to trade him for some 2nd rounders) but JJ can play. It certainly helps he went back to a team and system and coach (who is one of the best in the league) that he was successful for before.

Barea has cooled little bit and has shot Rubio like 6/19 in last two games but still he is averaging career highs in both PER (15.5) and TS% (53.6%).

Thad got 23 points, 15 rebounds, 2 blocks and even hit two three pointers last night. He is also having career season with 19.5 PER. Most amazing stat is his rebounding. He currently ranks third in rebounding percentage among all NBA players that are listed 6'8 or shorter. Only Faried and Booker has higher TRB%. Even though I was Thad supporter when he was here, I wouldn't have ever expected that kind of rebounding numbers from him. Especially in Brooklyn team that is actually quite good rebounding team. They rank currently 9th in defensive rebounding %.

Barea started again and Dallas beat New Orleans. J.J. didn't have any special night. I was just too lazy to create separate thread about how Dallas pretty easily beat New Orleans by using starting five: Barea, Felton, Parsons, Villanueva and McGee. They rested Nowitzki, Williams, Matthews and Pachulia.

Before the season started I thought that Felton or Villanueva wouldn't probably play a single minute this season. Felton has already even started 19 games. It really looks like that Carlisle knows how to put even very limited players to situations where they can be successful. Sam Mitchell does the opposite, he puts our players mainly to situations where their weaknesses are always exposed.

I would love to see Carlisle to coach Wolves even though he would probably sometimes have some crazy lieup and play Miller, Rubio and Jones together.

It's pretty amazing to me how Dallas is able to remain competitive year after year. I think if you go back a few years ago, shortly after their title run, most folks would say that Dallas would have fallen off and been in rebuilding mode by now. Nope. They are able to patch together a halfway decent roster every year and then Carlisle gets the most out of them. Are they going to win a title? Probably not. But boy, it must be nice to watch a team that is actually competitive.
