Cutting GR3 is Another Bonehead Move by Flip Saunders

Post by TeamRicky [enjin:6648771] »

I was a Flip supporter, but he's lost my confidence. Every move he's made since we got Wiggins has been questionable. Give up a first for Bennett. Give up a first round pick for Payne. Cut an athletic freak rookie like GR3 who never got a chance so he can accumulate more garbage talentless players. Half the roster is terrible and I don't get the give up on the rookie with the great athleticism, great attitude and great pedigree. Flip, you suck!

To me it just feels like he trying to hard to win right now, instead of trying to actually build something long term. I'd rather be really good in 4 years, rather then battling for the 8th seed in 2 and being peaked out

Doesn't Flip have interest in the buying of the team too, along with KG? Just prepare for many more years of probable incompetence. I don't think he's done the worst job so far, it's more in the middle. And if KG and Flip are part of a group that are the higher ups in the organization, it probably won't be much better then Taylor. Which just means maybe the spending and decisions won't be so frugal, but I doubt things improve. There will be Troy Hudsons everywhere.

Woooo, felt good to get that pessimism off my chest. Back to the topic, I really don't think its a make or break move. I just think he had more talent than a lot of 2nd rounders, and you can't find the diamonds in the rough if you're not looking for them. Just wish we would occasionally try to give these guys some time.

Kind of the whole point of the board. 900 trade threads, Lip's games reviews (while they seem less frequent now than in the past, still a staple of the boards since the ESPN days), and a bunch of threads about the same transactions whether it be our own or someone drops someone and half want us to pick him up, half want to tell those who want to pick up said player they're wrong. Just how it goes.

And honestly, as far as boards do go, ours is the most civil, intelligently discussed and interesting boards I've ever seen or been apart of. Some of the old ESPN boards for other teams back in the day were just down right awful and plain dumb. Trolls everywhere, no one with any knowledge acting like they should be writing for ESPN. We're lucky as fans to have this board and these people as outlets, truly.

Honestly what flip move really had been that bad, the only one that is arguable is the payne trade and gave bud a player option for 5 mil a year. I would say flip has done a fine job. It is not like Flip dosen't play the young guys minus gr3, so that has to say something about gr3. Gr3 is also a UFA so he will be getting a pay raise for more dnp next year

Am I missing something or are we up in arms over end of the bench filler? Maybe GRIII would become something. Maybe he won't, be the guy is the 11th or 12th man for us.

It's easy to be cavalier about this type of stuff..."Well, in the big scheme of things, how much of a difference does this make?". But when Flip strings together four or five of these sorts of head-scratching moves, it starts to add up! I also believe that if you are sloppy with the small stuff, you are sloppy with the big stuff too. Great decision makers focus on the details, especially in the NBA where over the course of 82 games, your 11th or 12th man may be thrust into the spotlight due to injuries.
