Doubts On Towns

Post by Papalrep »

Every mock draft I read has him top 5, and every one expresses concerns about his motor and softness. One scout said he should go 8th or 9th pick, not top 5. Calipari benches him occasionally, for playing too soft.

I'd hate to have this season fom Hell result in a high pick and then see it spent on a guy who could possibly not pan out. Aren't Russell or Johnson more of a sure thing?

The surest thing is Okafor because you know exactly what you are getting. Other than that who knows?

My concern with Russell is his physicality. I don't know if he has an NBA star quality frame.

Johnson will be okay but not spectacular.

Another question -- Mudaiy is rated with a game that is like John Wall's. Doesn't shoot well (like Ricky) potential off the charts, like Wiggs. So if he's there do we take him, and let the chips fall where they fall?

I really like him. How about we take him and work out a trade with Denver for Farried?

Durant and Curry didn't have great NBA frames when drafted either.

I don't have a good read on Towns. Wish he went to a school where he was the man.

My least favorite option of all options is trading that pick for Faried.

No, I didn't mean trade THAT pick. Take Mudiay and then balance the roster by doing a separate trade for Farried. We would have some ammo to maybe get that done.

Other than that pick, Wiggins or Rubio, what players/assets would we have that could bring Faried in return?

The craziest---but coolest in a way tweet that I read about potential draft picks that we are looking at is this (via jerry zagoda), if we take Russell (the PG out of OhioSt) both he, Wiggins and Flip would have the SAME birthday!!!

Talk about the stars aligning for us if that happened. Feb. 23 for all three of them.

Someone should copy/paste this for the board. "Some Scouts View Towns As Better Long Term Prospect Than Okafor" http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/draft2015/story/_/id/12370940/could-karl-anthony-towns-rising-stock-result-no-1-pick?ex_cid=InsiderTwitter_Ford_TownsStockwatch
