A contender would give him 12 million to come off the bench for 20 minutes a night when it would only take up around 15% of the cap. Not many teams have a low post threat that can carry a second unit offensively.

Easily huh?

Why not keep him and use him that way for ourselves?

I don't think Dieng is a starting C but he plays well enough to earn playing time. That would leave us with 2 backup C's and one making 12 million with the other making around 3. Also Deing has proven to be more durable so his 3 million goes further. Pek's 12 million can be better spent if he can only be relied on for 20 minutes a game to stay healthy. It simply comes down to money for me. We have 2 backup C's and 1 makes a lot more than the other while being less durable. I'm admittedly biased though because I never liked the Pek deal to begin with.

That's likely how every other team will see it as well.

I do agree on the Pek deal though, I thought it was absurd at the time. I thought 8 mil was the amount id be okay with, especially when nobody else was bidding for him. I personally think Rubio got paid too much as well though... and I obviously really like Rubioooooooooo.
