The more I watch these guys the less impressed I am. Besides Okafor these other guys are barely above so called "average players", last night was a prime example. Dekker completely outplayed Johnson and Towns barely outplayed Auguste. Towns stat line looks good but if you watched the game you know how unimpressive he really was. Offensively Towns was good BUT he has no post moves and his footwork his horrible also he was going against much smaller players and Auguste was so worried about picking up a foul (ND doesn't play anyone off the bench) that he wasn't even trying to stop him once he caught the ball. Defensively he was not good at all, he gave up a lot of baskets around the rim but he also gave up a lot of offensive rebounds to Auguste so essentially he did nothing on that end, also he's really not all that athletic.

I'm thinking Hezonja might be the best option if we don't get the first pick, the guy can really contribute on both ends of the court.

Picks that high mean you have to give up something of high value. Holiday was a young Allstar before being traded. That's why I mentioned Rubio. And the team trading for him would need to have some sense of desperate need.

Mid-lottery picks aren't nearly as expensive as top three's, cam. David Kahn was able to pick up a #5 by taking on bad contracts and only giving up Foye and Miller. Rubio is a substantially higher price than that.

That is the only mid to late lottery trade I can remember. Can anyone think of another example to help set the value of a pick in the 5-12 range?

We're talking about top-six in a good draft. That price is going to be expensive. And while Foye/Miller doesn't sound like a high price, Foye was a 16 PPG / 4 APG player and Miller was an efficient scorer/shooter off the bench. Not too expensive, but still decent players being moved.

How about Jrue Holiday for Nerlens Noel + 2014 1st round pick. That's the trade that seems the most comparable to me. As I said previously, Sacramento would be the target in my hypothetical trade.

Speaking of the Rubio draft year... Just think about that top 6... (off memory, but I think the order is correct):

#1: Blake Griffin
#2: Hasheem Thabeet
#3: James Harden
#4: Tyreke Evans
#5: Ricky Rubio
#6: Johnny Bust
#7: Steph Curry

Definitely was the best draft since the LeBron year.

With two picks in the top 6, it was tough to not end up with one very good player. Bummer we couldn't get either Harden and bummer we didn't get Curry (Kahhhhhhhhhn!).

Side note...With Harden's emergence, it's tough to look back at the OKC choice between Harden and Ibaka and not think they made the wrong choice. (would have had 3 legit MVP candidates all from the same team)

What's interesting about that draft also is that we forget to mention how we were rumored to be trying to trade up to No. 2. Maybe using 5 + the late 1st to do so. I wonder who Kahn would have selected had he been able to get that deal.

Knowing our luck + Kahn's dumb basketball acumen, we would have taken Rubio over Harden and Evans (stellar prospect).

Camden, according to Kahn, he was trying to get Ricky. He also tried to trade Flynn+#18 (which ended up becoming Ty Lawson) for Tyreke Evans, but said the Kings target at #18 (James Johnson I think) didn't end up lasting until #18, so the Kings decided not to do the trade.

Wow, Kentucky, Duke, Mich St. and Wisconsin in the Final Four...what a shocker! I'm sure I speak for the entire board in congratulating Callipari, Izzo, Ryan and Coach K in finally getting there...I'm happy these long-suffering coaches are getting a chance to experience a Final Four.
