Pretty depressing.
- We actually defended all but two players pretty darn well.
- I take everything back I've said about Dieng being the worst defensive Center in the NBA. He's the second worst. Justin Hamilton is now the worst. Vucevic absolutely destroyed him in every way imaginable: From the outside, from the inside, and on the glass.
- I like Justin Hamilton - he's very skilled offensively and actually tries to do the right things defensively. He just can't handle opposing Centers. He's just too damn weak and soft.
- Elfrid Payton is a clever SOB. That kid is fun to watch out there.
- Our entire starting front line combined got outrebounded by Vucevic. Wiggins absolutely needs to do better on the boards if he's playing SF. Let's hope that 10 lbs. of extra weight he plans on putting on this offseason helps him in this area.
- Hummel and LoBrown, two of my favorite cheap "value" players only looked cheap tonight. Neither were very effective out there.

Ok, so they lost? I was busy watching Breaking Bad again on Netflix

I'll spare everyone a game report on this one. We were dominated by one of the worst teams single League.
I like Hamilton, but as Q noted, he can't defend opposing centers. He was eaten alive tonight. But you had to love his dribble drive dunk.
Yes, Hummel is a 14th or 15th guy at best. We shouldn't have needed tonight's game to know that. And he shouldn't be on next season's roster. His spot should be filled with a big bruiser
Wiggins was fun to watch and put up another 20. But he has all but abandoned his perimeter shot and completely abandoned the 3-point shot. And as Q noted, he continues to be extremely disappointing on the boards. Scoring 20-24 a game almost entirely on drives from just outside the paint and free throws without scoring from behind the arc or rebounding will leave Wiggins well short of becoming the star we all hope and believe he can be.
BUDINGER continues to play well on both ends and in multiple facts off the game. I would like to see him play out his option year nxt season with the Wolves.
Payne is off the charts in the idiot scale. I have a hard time holding out much hope for him and I continue to wish we had that future 1st rounder that Flip gave up for him.
Brown isn't an NBA caliber talent except perhaps as a 14th or 15th guy to provide a practice body and fill in during scrub time late in lopsided games. He made Zach look like a floor genius tonight. And tonight wasn't the first game in which Brown repeatedly looked clueless. At least Zach had the good sense to get the ball in Wiggins' hands most possessions. Brown repeatedly ignored Wiggins and dribbled into the heart of the defense.
Speaking of Zach, he had a mediocre game tonight. His shot was off, but he put up 10 points. His pass to Martin on the break was excellent. He managed the game fairly well and generally avoided attempting risky passes. He made sever bad decisions with the ball, but not as many as Payne, Brown, Hummel or even Wiggins. Wiggins has to stop passing up shots in favor of passes to the likes of Hummel.
Orlando made three-point shots and the Wolves didn't take them. Nothing knew there. I read an article recently which reported that Flip said he doesn't design plays to get three-point shots. I guess we already knew that. Flip reportedly said missed three-pointers lead to fast breaks the other way, implying that designing three-point attempts into the offense hurts on the defensive end. Never mind that the best defensive team in the League also leads the League in three-point attempts.
If tonight's game provided anything it served as a reminder that Flip is not the right guy to coach this team going forward. This League in which success is built around defense and three-point shooting -- the two things Flip either can't or doesn't want to coach. But alas, Glen said that Flip can coach as long as he wants. And Sam Mitchell will likely succeed him down the road. We sell first round picks and Flip gets to do whatever he wants with no accountability. Any wonder why we're perennially one of the worst franchises in the League?

The fact that Wiggins can score 20-24 with no 3pt game should make you confident in his ability to be a star. Add in one or two made three's per game and he becomes a top tier scorer. He's actually excelling in the more difficult offensive areas like in the post and getting to the line for a rookie. Just having him take more 3's is an easy adjustment to increase his scoring output. The problem is the coach we have right now is the completely wrong guy for Wiggins moving forward to increase output in that area. Asking him to do even more at this point like rebounding when you consider his minutes load on top of his offensive and defensive load right now seems to be piling on. The guy is scoring 19 a game since the all-star break and is still our best perimeter defender. He's still just a 20 year old rookie and yet he keeps being asked to do even more by this board than he already is and I can't figure out why he is expected to do so much this early in his career. He's improved or remained virtually the same in every category with the exception of his 3 point shooting dropping off which is most likely due to a combination of exhaustion from playing 39 MPG's with a coach who doesn't want you taking 3's if you aren't an elite shooter. How about the other players step up instead of expecting the guy who is pretty much doing everything for us as a rookie to do even more? Wiggins isn't the problem. Everyone else is.

Hey, Tim, where's that egg on my face I was supposed to be waiting for in regards to Payne (and Bennett)?
Instead, let's use those eggs for something better. I'll take a Western Omelette. Thanks!

We're just completely outmanned right now. Averaging 8 to 9 healthy players per game, and most of those guys should be in the D-League all-star game.
It's ugly.
But I'm hoping one of the guys playing this weekend will be on the team next year. Or Russell.

I'm having flashbacks to the Kahn-Rambis era. My therapist can schedule an unexpected vacation because of this.

AB came back for one game and now he's hurt again? Has this season been the biggest shit show ever? Even Rambis is shaking his head watching this team.
Re: Wolves vs Magic GDT: Already down 13-4 lol
Are we on the threshold of a "bring back Rambis" campaign? :).
