Lots of positivity here, but keep in mind we were absolutely full-strength playing at home against an opponent without their starting PG (MCW) and 2nd year lottery pick (Jabari Parker).....And they still made it close.
I still see us as a mid-20 win team. Injuries will happen and the defense is still very shaky. But a 10 or so game improvement over last season would be a nice step forward.

The KATman was terrific last night. And it was against a very physical center in Greg Monroe, who was held to 5 points on 2-12 shooting...truly a breakout game for Towns.

Sure, the Bucks were missing MCW and Parker, but we were missing Pek (i.e. not "absolutely full- strength"). And Milwaukee is so deep and MCW is such a poor shooter, they're still a good team without those two guys.
Last night's game is an occasion for some must-needed optimism. Before the game I stated in this thread what I thought was Sam's vision of the identity of this team, and lo and behold, he talked about it again in the Strib this morning. He wants his defensive starting five to set the stage by playing smart, gritty defense against the opponent's starters, and then let our prolific scorers loose late in quarters 1 and 3. It's nice to see a coach lay out a plan, and have the team execute it so perfectly. I'm feeling a lot better about this team after seeing how they responded to Sam's rotations.

Wait everyone is happy now? Oh the manic life of a Wolves fan.

After finishing watching this game just now....CHAMPIONSHIP!!!
Lol ok maybe not but damn they looked good in every phase. Was it a perfect game no but that looked like an NBA team out there and the type of team you would be happy tonwatchbevery night even if they lost. It won't last but that was some good stuff.
Wiggins played well overall. That Middleton guy is so good. One thing I see with Wiggins is he looks like he is getting closer to be a volume 3 point guy. That would be huge for this franchise who for years have lacked those players.
Good grief Martin can score. Bazz can put it in the hoop also.
The Zach Lavine I saw in this game was the Lavine I saw last when he was more good than bad. If he plays that well generally speaking I'll take it. I agree with LST his defense was a positive also. He still makes mistakes but he gives you more on that end than the other options at Pg which is nice. Imagine if he can really long term be an option as a PG for minutes and be even average defensively at that position on the ball. He could be a real asset in a unique way.
Towns. Dude is insane. Cam went on record about his offense being very good. Yep. Post game. Check. Passing check. Ridiculous jumper all things considered? Check I don't want to get too crazy here but ROY is certainly a possibility.
KG and Prince did their thing.
Rubio showed some rust throwing some bad passes but damn he looks healthy quick and that jumper looked pretty natural. Baylee's is not an easy cover he is quick and strong and Ricky did a good job. He seems to be picking his spots a little better when he gambles. He really creates havoc with his instincts quick hands and length.
Rudez got minutes over Payne. I was not surprised. That will happen if teams have tweener forwards for him to guard.
Ball movement energy hustle defensive rotations. Yeah pretty good.
One last thing. The previous broadcast Peterson mentioned that KG told Dieng in the walk through to treat it more like a game get down into your defensive stance for guards. I think it was the Greek freak he got down in a really good stance stuck with him well and then blocked him. It was a really impressive play. It's not like he was perfect defensively far from it but that one play shows he has some potential to stay in front of guys and be better than what he has shown at times.
