Re: What is next?
I wish this was the NFL because I'd restructure the hell out of Pek's deal. Also I'm bringing in Al Horford on a max contract pending GM and owner approval.

So how much are we going to set aside for the d-league team?
If scouting would just do their damn job we won't need no stinking D-league team. It's time to raise expectations around here people.
I am raising expectations for the scouts. We are gonna be so stocked with talent we will be trading our d-league players for other team's all stars.

What if all of us on here kick in some money....we could probably raise well over $1000. Then...we go to TCF or Anchor Bank and get a loan for the other $625M and BOOM - we own this team! The only thing left to decide would be which of us would be in charge of what. :-)
ONLY $625M? With the kind of brain power we have here and that initial seed fund of 1K, I imagine they might even give us $626M!!!!
OK, here are my initial thoughts on whose in charge of what:
LST - POBO (he golfs and seems kinda smart - close 'nuff!)
Lip - General Manager (sorry Milt)
60WinTim - Marketing
Carlos - Finance (If he can turn 1K into a $626M loan, I'm pretty sure he can make the Wolves profitable!)
Monster - Human Resources
Khans - Contract negotiations (he ain't budging!).
Camden - College Scouting. (he and Khans share a cube - tee hee).
Cool - Coaching search (so far he's the number one candidate in his search)
Mikkeman - Analytics (he's my manager, I'm just a lowly staff analyst)
Abe - Cheerleading squad chaperon
Papal - Team chaplain (and chaperon for Abe)
Bleed - Crunch
SP - Halftime entertainment
Wildwolf - East coast advanced scout (limited to just the Knicks and Nets)
Phenom - West coast scouting (that's everyone except the Knicks and Nets)
Porkchop - Rubio's personal assistant and water boy
Now I know I missed a number of you, but have no fear, we still have openings in the Legal department, Injury Rehabilitation and Recovery (we are WAY understaffed here - help wanted!), and international scouting. Please contact Monster in HR with your position of interest and as long as you can answer a short quiz successfully (hint: Lasagna is one of the answers), you have a spot!
I nominate this for best post ever on this forum. Brilliant!
I second that nomination...great work, q et al! Laughter is often the best medicine for grieving.
I'm really questioning your choice of POBO though. BOBO maybe, but I'm way too much of a homer to do a decent job of running the team. Do we really want a new POBO who endorsed trading a first round pick for Adreain Payne, and thought Anthony Bennett would be our starting PF this year? Plus, since I generally overvalue all Wolves not related to somebody in the Beach Boys, I would never be able to pull the trigger on any trades...it would just be too painful. You better take the job, Q.
Re: What is next?
This is neither here nor there, but I had commented how the timing was kind of weird, in that if it had to happen, now was the best time for it to happen.
Well, after reading some of the stuff today, it's pretty clear they planned for this happening over the weekend by not taking Flip off life support until now.
Once the doctors and family determined Flip would not make it, this weekend would have been the least impactful time to the basketball side. Any sooner and it disrupts preseason. Any later and it disrupts the regular season.
I am not complaining. In fact, I commend all those involved for doing what was best for the Timberwolves, probably how Flip would have wanted it.

Er, I don't recall us having that job, although it's funny, Abe requested the same thing before applying for the cheerleading squad chaperone role!
He did? Damn you Abe! Ok is there a European scout position available? I could do South America too.

Not happening under my watch has head of media relations. Nobody will cross me in the media. If they do my alter ego as Crunch will settle the score.

As Marketing guru, I am changing the name to Minnesota Flippers, pending Glen's approval...

Glen doesn't own the team anymore. Carlo's got us financed for it. Please try and keep up.
Re: What is next?
Flip had an effect on this organization and I think it's clear pretty much everyone in the organization will be working hard playing hard and living by everything Flip brought to the organization. Having the Flip effect play out will be positive at least for a while. How long? Idk.
I ask the question because it seems like you would ruin some of that vibe by bringing in a new POBO. It's hard to come up with someone that would interrupt that even if they were terrific for the job in general. Of course at some point you have to move on but the more I hear about all that Flip was doing to try and make the organization better the more I see keeping true to some of that as long as it's worthwhile something to consider. On the other hand you don't want to wait too long to have things not keep up because you don't have a guy working the vision for the team. This is a pretty tricky situation but hopefully it plays out well.
