I seem to remember 2 or 3 people (maybe just 1) that leaned towards Okafor. Pretty tough to imagine anyone regretting the choice at this point!

khans, the doper, The Rage Monster, TRKO and likely some others were in favor of Okafor over Towns. Just wondered if any of those people would still rather have Okafor.

Oh right, I forgot that you already know how good everyone is going to be after 8 pre-season games. Towns had 1 really good game out of 8. How about we let them get a season or two under their belt before we get cocky about how much better Towns is? Towns is looking promising which is awesome for the team, but I'm not crowning him after 8 games.

You amuse me, khans. I was asking a question. I absolutely remember how you and others had questions about Towns' offensive game. Specifically, you questioned his post game and his ability to shoot in games. You made it clear that you weren't buying in on those aspects of his game. You probably had people that would agree with you because of the limited opportunities he had at Kentucky to really display those talents. All of which is fair to a degree.

We are only eight preseason games into the season, absolutely, but I think his skills have been shown. He hasn't put them together over the course of a season (yet), and I'm not saying Towns is better than Okafor because of meaningless preseason games, but after seeing more of both players, I was asking if anyone would still choose Okafor after seeing what Towns can already do.

"Towns had 1 really good game out of 8."

Um, you mean five out of seven? He's only had two poor outings.

And Okafor is shooting 89% from the line (couldn't see volume on my phone) and people were worried about hack-a-Shaq with him. But he'll never be able to hit a mid-range jumper. It goes both ways.

I think our definition of really good games differs. I don't count relative to his status. Showing flashes in a game doesn't count. Having a good quarter or two doesn't count. 18/12 counts. The only other two games that were close were his 18/5 against OKC and 13/10 against whoever, but both of those are lacking the really good game punch. Also his two 18 point games were against Kanter and Monroe who are both bad really bad defenders. So again I say 1 really good game.

I gotta hand it to you khans, you never give up!

(and yeah, it is still early, but I think by about June 25th there wasn't a single person that makes their living in basketball that would have taken Okafor over Towns).

I'll give up when it's time to give up. 8 pre-season games isn't that time and I try to give guys 3 years in the league to show their stuff. If Towns isn't the best player from this draft in 3+ years then everybody would be wrong so I don't really care what the consensus is. Towns looks like the best guy now, but that may not be the case in the future. Would you rather have Rose or Love? Rose was the clubhouse leader early and now you're probably better off with Love. Would you rather have Kyrie moving forward or Kawhi? What about Blake versus Curry or Harden? The early consensus isn't always right long-term even with really good players.

Well, of course none of us know for sure what's going to happen. Heck, Russell, Hezonja, or Mudiay may end up being better than both of these guys for all we know. Or may be Towns ends up chronically injured. All I'm saying is that with all the information we have today (and the information we had on June 25th), I think it's pretty clear that Towns was the right pick.

Your inability to give even a millimeter in these types of debates says more about your stubbornness than anything.

I didn't see anything cocky about Cam's post. It read as a simple, honest question IMO. Look at the way it was written and take it as face value. It's not about knowing how good each player is going to be, but rather simply about whether or not what we've seen from Towns so far has changed people's initial pre-draft opinion of who they'd rather have. Specifically those who really wanted Okafor.
