Bennett to Celtics being discussed

Post by Carlos Danger »

I'd do that deal (If I were the Celtics I mean):

So basically, it's a "Save us from having to pay this guy" move.

Pretty much. And cleaning up the mess they created with so many suspects at PF.

This would be a terrible idea...and has been atypical of Flip to this point with most moves. This one would be the worst yet, and I am still jaded about the Payne deal.

It is not worth it to pay to dump him on a rebuilding team. Just keep him and not extend him. Use the seconds to stash Euros and draft young.

I think if that deal got the Wolves the 16th pick instead of the 28th, I'd probably be for it. But there's no happy medium for either team. 16th is too much to give up for Bennett for the Celtics, and the 28th is too low for the Wolves as they're already giving up 2 high 2nd rounders, and I don't see a significant difference between 28th and 31st.

Bennett + 36 for 28 would be good with me. I don't see why we'd need to throw in 31 when we'd only be moving up a couple spots, though.

There has been plenty of talk about trading the two seconds and a throw in player to move up. The only issue here is how little they're moving up, 31 to 28. I agree with those who say you only make this move if a player you want badly is there at 28 and you don't think he will be at 31.

My questions:

1. Would you trade AB simply to make room for Bjelica?
2. Would you trade 31 & 36 to move up to get a specific guy you want even if that means only moving up a couple spots?

If you answer yes to both I don't see the issue with this trade proposal, assuming they do then sign Bjelica.

I would trade 36 and Bjelica to draft Portis. I would trade 31 to 76ers with AB and Bud for a late 2nd and draft Harvey.

Maybe if Flip included the rights to Bjelica they'd include the 16th?

Anthony Bennett, Chase Budinger (or trade exception), 31st, 36th and rights to Bjelica for Gerald Wallace and 18th pick.
