I read a few articles stating the same thing. Towns says there is no promise, but it's well known he has only worked out for the Timberwolves. Unless he and other teams have kept his workouts a secret, it seems pretty indicative the Wolves will draft him. It may have stopped at an implied promise between the Wolves and Towns, without explicitly saying so. Or they could all just be lying. Which is normal for this time of year.

Same thing happened with LaVine last year. The promise was made and then when it leaked out, everyone denied it. And who'd we end up with? The same guy we promised.

I wonder if any reporters area asking Towns why he is not working out for the Lakers if there has been no promise. I'd be interested in his response.

To be fair, isn't it practically a foregone conclusion Towns is going to LA if the Wolves for whatever reason pass on him?
Does he need to visit there?

Re: Wolves tell Towns they will select him
Why in the world would Towns want to workout with LA, regardless if he has a promise or not? He's the consensus #1 or #2 pick at this point, so he pretty much knows he isn't going to go lower than 2nd. His incentive to workout for the Wolves is to prove that he is worthy of #1 money. If I were his agent, I would never let him workout for LA unless I felt there was some risk of him potentially slipping past #2.

I don't know. They seem to really be focused on getting Cousins to be their center, and there are reports that Porzingis really blew them away in his workout last week. There are five guys who you could make a case for being #1 (six, if you count The SP), and I would think the Lakers would want to interview and work out all of them. The Wolves did, except for Porzingis. When Towns refused the Lakers request for a private workout, it was pretty clear to me that he had gotten the high sign from Flip.

Haha! I had to read that and do a few rudimentary equations in my head before it struck me. :)
I knew Tim would get that one!
