The fall deadline is to pick up his fourth year, the Wolves are already on the hook for this upcoming season unless they trade him.

According to reports, The Timberwolves and the Celtics are working on a deal that would send PF Anthony Bennett to Boston.

AB and two high second round picks makes no sense unless you look at AB in the same light they did Wes Johnson. If no team values AB on his own then you have to pay to dump him. What I'm wondering is if this is a move to open up a spot for Bjelica? Bjelica has been rumored to want $5M a year, this move would clear a spot and salary.

Not saying I like it, but AB has no value, if anything he has negative value.

If a guy has zero to negative value you don't trade him. Simple as that. The roster spot for Bjelica isn't worth making a bad trade. Wes Johnson cost a first rounder because we needed the cap space and that was a bad trade. There's no need to cut our losses with Bennett now when you can just let him go in free agency next summer. Something over nothing shouldn't be in play when you have to give up more just to get something. 31 alone is worth more than 28, let alone 36 and Bennett. Since when is a 3 for 1 where you get the 28th pick in the draft ever a good trade?

Yeah, #31, #36 and Bennett for #28. No thanks

This is an alarming report. Not so much because it's an absurd deal, but more so because it means Glen Taylor has quietly hired back David Kahn.

This has to be a joke, right? It looks like the source of this rumor is a guy named Jake Fischer. This is his bio:

Currently a journalism major at Northeastern University. Occasional correspondent for the Boston Globe covering high school sports. Oh, and the best part of his resume: he was once "a member of the award-winning Cherry Hill East High School Newspaper". Why am I thinking Jakey might not be the most connected guy out there.

As cool suggested, #31 and #36 are more valuable than #28. And Flip can't be that desperate to get out of just one more year of AB's $5 million contract. Jake, go back to covering high school.

Prior to the draft starting, yea that trade is bogus. But during the draft? It could be a sweet deal. If a player that the Wolves have targeted is there at 28 and you think he could be gone in the next 2 picks, make the trade. Even if you do not think he will be gone, it could be worth it to have 4 years of control on a small contract. 2nd rounders can get bigger money, sooner.

Its not the number that the Wolves trade up to, its the player they trade up for. I am sure that Flip has put in contingency calls throughout the first round letting all of them know he is game to trade up if one of those teams decide to bail. But yeah it will not happen predraft.

I agree with your premise, phenom, but only if all of these are true:

1) There is a player that Flip is salivating over at 28, that he is convinced won't be there 3 picks later...Deion Wright, perhaps?

2) He has given up on AB, and doesn't even want to give him training camp and October to see if he has regained his confidence.

3) He really wants to bring Bjelica over, and needs AB's $5 million to get it done.

But then I wonder. Why is a college journalism major who covers high school sports the only one on this rumor?

For me this is not a substantial deal for us to move up three spots. It's giving a ton for so little.

Rumors are that the Blazers and 76ers are discussing a move which includes the Blazers #23 for the 76ers #35 and #37. Why risk two spots and sending Bennett out when we can offer the #31 and #36 for the Blazers pick?

The Blazers want to secure Aldrdge and Matthews and having a non guaranteed is needed. Plus keeping Bennett for a possible trade later is a better recipe for recooping assets....isn't it?

If Jake Fischer hasn't reported it, it hasn't happened!
