I have a better what would you rather have question
Trading Love for a package based around Wiggins
Trading based on a package based around Klay
Trading based on a package around something else
Being able to go back in time and give Love the 5 year max, thus keeping him under control for the next 3 years

Love is far better than any player I've heard mentioned in trade talks to date. Thus going back in time is the obvious answer.
Re: I have a better what would you rather have question
I don't believe it makes that much difference. Love could still be asking for a trade, and going to Boston for a vacation. The only difference is the media wouldn't be saying Love has to be moved before camp, when the truth is that he could be every bit as disruptive as he has been. Would his teammates like him anymore (assuming those rumors are true)?

I guess we would have more teams involved in trade discussions with the longer contract, but would they be willing to give up much if he didnt' want to be traded there?

He would be under contract for another 3 years. If he went to Boston while being under for 3 more years would it really been that big of deal?

After rumors of his agent asking for a trade? I think it would have been just as big of a spectacle as it was now.

It's not so much him asking for a trade rather then "I'm going to opt out at the end of the year and not resign so you might as well trade me"
Re: I have a better what would you rather have question
I absolutely agree that Love could be asking for a trade at this point but if he was under contract for longer MAYBE he gives Flip another year to see what he can do. I have said for over a year now if this team wins Love is likely to stay if we don't he isn't staying no matter his contract status and I think everyone here agrees you can't blame him for wanting out even if it sucks and a punch in the gut he wants to go. I still believe IF we can win which is a tall order Love could stay but a lot of chips have to fall the Wolves way for that to happen. This and Rubio wanting the max is depressing and at this point LaVine is the only really bright spot for me as a Wolves fan right now.

Technically he supposedly stated he would opt out and not sign an extension. There is a big difference because it would be stupid to sign an extension. What he actually meant is up for debate, but I have always believed that Love would force his way out, and that it wouldn't take five years to do it.

but he has no way of forcing his way out. It's not like the NFL where players refuse to show up to camp. Can you name a player ever who refused to show up in the NBA?
