Summer League

Post by longstrangetrip [enjin:6600564] »

I know...seems kind of early. But it starts next month, and there's news today, so I thought I would set up the thread.

Good news that Dieng, Muhammad and Shved will all participate. Add in 1 or more of our draft picks, and we have the makings of a powerhouse. It will be interesting to see if they use Alexey at PG, and if he can step up and play like he did in the Olympics.

Let's dream a little here. Let's say we pick up the 1st pick in a Love trade, and draft Parker and Stauskas with our two first rounders. Would you enjoy watching this SL team?

C Dieng
PF Parker
SF Muhammad
SG Stauskas
PG Shved

Phoenix used last year's summer league to acclimate their new coach and develop some second year players, and they used it as a springboard to a great season. Can the Wolves do the same?

Do you have a link to that info? Not questioning you I just like to read stuff about summer league. I almost doesn't matter who is on the team I would enjoy it. I'm such a sucker for the summer league I can't even explain why.

Shved being on the team would be great for everyone. If he is willing it shows he still wants to play in the NBA and he could either show the Wolves he can be something or make another team interested in him. I agree throw him at PG and see what happens. Shved, Bazz, Hummel, Dieng and even just whoever we get at #13 and one of our 2nd rounders sounds plenty interesting to me. That could be a heck of a team to watch honestly. I'd love to go to watch the Vegas Summer league sometimes. Maybe in like 3-4 years. lol

I have not gone to SL in a couple years but that team would make the drive worth it.

I've gone two of the last three years. I think I'll go again this summer. I predict a breakout season for Shved. :)

The funny thing is as much as people make fun of him he isn't any crazier or less reliable (and the reality is in many cases Sid is better) than alot of other media types that write drivel we have to wade through. And I have no particular soft spot for Sid at all. I didn't read the Star Tribune growing up in South Dakota.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2111521-10-things-we-cant-wait-to-see-at-nba-summer-league-2014

One of the things I love about the NBA is that there is no emotional let down after the draft...because two weeks later we have summer league! Read the attached article and try not to get excited for Vegas...man, is there going to be a lot of talent there!

And the Wolves are going to have an intriguing squad:

PG Shved
SG LaVine
SF Muhammad
PF ?
C Dieng

And we will get a first look at the Little Dog too. As I mentioned earlier, Summer League is a time for experimentation so I expect to see Muhammad getting a shot at some SG too, and Deing showing if he can handle a little PF. And now that we have LaVine, I'm sure Flip will want to see what he has at PG too. Promises to be the most interesting summer league ever.

Lip and phenom, be sure to let me know if you plan to go this year. I am thinking about making the 5-hour drive through the desert to watch a couple games, and it would be great to have another Wolves fan to analyze this promising group of young players with.
