Summer League - Game 4 - Wolves v. Suns

Nice, I'll have to watch it when I get home. So Lavine has a good game and then does this...
ESPNNBA NBA on ESPN
When it comes to signing autographs, Zach LaVine does it for the Vine (and the kids at #NBASummerLeague). https://t.co/K3P42z5QCy

Love that he is #8. Spreewell and Beas look out.

Muhammad had a terrible first half, only to completely pick himself up in the second half, getting to the line and denying ball on defense to Warren in the middle of his hot streak. Fesenko kept on rolling. Ryan Saunders, I thought, made a difference on the bench. The subs made sense and he was constantly pulling the young guys to coach up. All good things today.
Win baby win!
I watched the game today and had the same thought as you about the coaching of the younger Saunders. I thought he did a nice job on the bench -- MUCH better than Sidney Lowe.

These guys played some defense for once, which was refreshing after the first few games. I think it helped having Fez and Dieng in the starting lineup versus going small with Dieng at Center and Shabazz at PF, Robinson at SF, etc.
LaVine is looking good, not great. I wish he would turn the corner more authoritatively on screen and rolls and take it to the hoop. Too often he goes wide settles for pull-up jumpers instead of getting into the paint. And when he does get into the paint, he struggles finishing unless it's an open dunk. That being said, I can definitely see the potential. I have no issues with how he's played given his age and relative lack of experience.
You gotta give 'Bazz credit: He plays hard. But man, he makes scoring look difficult. Nothing comes easy for him. Unlike TJ Warren, who hit us with an array of drives, step-backs, and transition buckets or Zach LaVine, who pulls up effortlessly for smooth jumpers (not great shots, but he gets them off so easily), 'Bazz labors for every point. The level of difficulty on those lefty push shots is extremely high. He simply doesn't have the array of skills that others have, so he relies on brute force and hustle for his points. I'm still not sold on him.....
Overall, it was nice to see the Wolves win finally.

I'm not rushing to judgment or trying to sound like a crazy person, and it has nothing to do with the UCLA thing, but MAN do you get a little Westbrook-vibe when LaVine turns the corner on that PnR and heads towards the rim. If he can put on a little weight in the next couple seasons, that will definitely help his confidence and push him to go straight to the rim rather than pulling up for jumpers.

That's what's frustrating. You get the sense he could get to the rim at will, but he picks up his dribble too quickly or settles for a jumper. Westbrook attacked. I'm not seeing that from LaVine. On the other hand, his shooting stroke seems a lot better at this stage in his career vs. Westbrook.

Q--That dunk with like 1:10 left (76-71) where LaVine came off the pick and just flushed it with his chin at the rim was awesome. Agree with you that he needs to do it more, but you can already see a little growth in his game just during this one week in Vegas.

Yeah sometimes you just want to see LaVine go, but some of those times it looks like he is trying to look for teammates. I'm quite frankly floored by him I wasn't expecting anything nearly this good or impressive. He has played the PG better than anyone else on the roster by a mile and its SL and its easy to get carried away, but the guy looks like he can play. He seriously looks like he can plays some decent minutes and be a factor this year. I know I know its SL, but he has been more impressive than anyone I can remember in SL for the Wolves since I suppose Skita!?!?!? LOL

Since Flynn when he was throwing down windmills.
Thus, I temper expectations.

GRIII has two threes already. Would be great to see him get double digits.
