Summer League - Game 6 - Wolves vs. Pelicans
Re: Summer League - Game 6 - Wolves vs. Pelicans
Very good ending to Summer League, they were fun to watch with this ball movement (no shabazz tonight) GR3 was good and so was Lavine, the bench played very good, I could see Heslip making the roster, such a good shooter.

The problem with Heslip is that he is such a liability defensively.
As for the team as a whole, they definitely played better team-oriented offense and defense (after a porous first quarter). I'm not sure if Shabazz's absence had anything to do with this or not, but the ball was definitely moving quickly. We had 19 assists vs. 11 turnovers.

Awesome, thanks for posting. Pretty incredible that he got that last alley-oop. It was a terrible pass. The guy is a freak and seems to have good vision. As everyone has said, he can get that pull-up off at anytime and appears to hit it with some consistency, but needs to be more aggressive overall. Lovin' the pick so far though.
Also, was that GRIII he ooped to on the back door cut in the middle of the clip? GRIII and Rubio may make a beautiful pair.
Amazing to think how we might go from one of the least athletic teams in the NBA last season to a top 10 or 5 team in terms of athleticism in one offseason.

Thoroughly impressed with LaVine this summer, I know it's only SL, but he looks much more advanced than I had anticipated.

I couldn't agree more, mike...LaVine looks nothing like the guy we saw at UCLA last season. Steve Alford's decision to play Kyle Anderson at the point rather than Zach looks really foolish right now. Of course he had some turnovers in SL, but a few of them were not his fault. And he played with a poise and confidence that I never would have expected. Remember, this is a guy who really hasn't played much point guard since high school, and his vision, ball handling and comfort in the PnR were impressive. His ability to change his direction in the air was on display last night, not only on the alley oop and his left baseline drive where he had to hang in the air waiting for the defense to clear, but also on jumpshots, where he sometimes seems to begin his jump not in the best shooting position but then is able to adjust to line himself up perfectly. Truly a unique athlete.
Who knows what he will give us his year, but right now I'm a little embarrassed that I criticized Flip for this pick.

I finished watching this game tonight. LaVine idk what else there is to say I am more blown away by him and this pick every time I see him play.
GR3 showed up in the last game of the SL.
Dieng awkward but effective. They clearly challenged him to try and do stuff he isn't used too on offense.
Heslip will have no problem finding someone to pay him to hit jumpers somewhere on this planet.
Nice overall effort from the Wolves. One guy that hasn't been talked about is DJ Kennedy. He played very solid when he was in there and even ran some pg. He isn't a prospect, but if you want a guy on the end of your bench to play smart and defend he would be your guy. I remember he made life tough for McBuckets and a couple other guys that were going off before he was on them. If I was running a team I would make sure I knew what his agents number was in case I needed someone.
