Best Potential Love Trades
Re: Best Potential Love Trades
If I'm Flip I say to Cleveland that if you want Love you need to give us Wiggins, Bennett and their choice of Waiters or Thompson. They would also have to take Shved so we could open up a roster spot.
No Wiggins, no deal.
Rubio / Barea / LeVine
Wiggins / Martin / Muhammad
Brewer / Budinger / GR3
Bennett / Thompson / LMAM
Pekovic / Dieng / Turiaf

Re: Best Potential Love Trades
I think it was Cleaves during the SL Wolves game that said something like "On the other hand Flip is the coach he probably wants to keep Love on his team becasue he woudl like to coach a really good player." Thats an interesting perspective thats not considered in many of these discussions. I know everyone seems convinced Love is pouting as we speak about how awful it would be to play with the Wolves next year, but I don't buy it. IS having Love on the team next year going to cause some problems? Yeah sure, but I'll take Love's 26 and 13 which also gives you one of the best scorers in THE ENTIRE league. Thats going to be FREAKING HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The offers people are willing to settle for trading Love are terrible. I'd rather take the chance Love stays and he absolutely walks than take those trades. I'm holding onto Love unless I get a real worthwhile offer or he is freaking mine and he is gonna play for my team. Love isn't gonna just dog it thats not is his nature. The guy goes after rebounds harder than Oliver Miller goes after donuts. I'M NOT GIVING LOVE AWAY. Monster out (drops mic) LOL

No Wiggins, No Love. That's the motto. I'm still thinking the Cavs really can't be this stupid. Who knows, though? Cleveland's gonna Cleveland.
I think Thompson is going to stick in Cleveland, unfortunately. He'll be their first big off the bench. Shares the same agent as LeBron I believe, and seems to be a fan favorite. If that's the compromise, I'd be okay with it.
Wiggins + Bennett + Waiters + 2015 SAC 1st + Haywood's contract for Love + Budinger. This trade would need to happen after Wiggins is signed.
PG: Rubio / Barea / LaVine / Shved (rather him cut)
SG: Waiters / Martin / Robinson III
SF: Brewer / Wiggins / Muhammad
PF: Bennett / Mbah a Moute
C: Pekovic / Dieng / Turiaf

Cam - I agree it's hard to believe the Cavs are that dumb. But I think they are.

How are they a lottery team in the East? They've finished 4th and 6th (with Lopez missing a lot of time in the second year) in the East the last two years. Cleveland is the only team that didn't make the playoffs that has gotten better this offseason so that still makes them a 7 seed in the East at worst. They brought in Hollins to coach who is good enough to get them to the playoffs. They still have D Will, Johnson and Lopez which is a better big 3 than a majority of the East.
You're right, khans, they're probably not a lottery team next year. But they could be. They have already lost their 3rd and 4th highest scorers from last year, and they swung and missed on Sebastian Freakin Telfair. Garnett, Kirilenko & Co. are half the players they used to be, and Lopez and Williams are as injury prone as anyone. They probably make the playoffs, but they also have the potential to completely fall apart. I think those picks have value.

Re: Best Potential Love Trades
ESPN.com reported that the Cav's latest offer for Love, turned down of course, was Waiters, Bennett and a pick. Assuming that the report is accurate, that's worse than most of us have been thinking, as most of us thought that at least TT would be included in any non-Wiggins offers.
Danny Ainge has said publicly that he is working on ways to get Love, and can certainly beat what the Cavs are willing to offer. The deal I suggested with 2 players and 2 picks is twice as good as the Cavs' most recent offer. Olynyk would have to be in the deal, as he may have been the best rookie in the league the last month of the year (if it wasn't Dieng) and Flip is fond of him, and I prefer Thornton to Smart. Smart is the much better player, but doesn't fit well with another poor shooter like Rubio...Thornton only having 1 more year on his contract gives Flip much more cap flexibility in 2015-6.
I think it's time for all of us to get realistic about what trading Love is going to get us in return, and start hoping for some serious talks between Ainge and Flip.

Seriously these GMs much play to much NBA 2k14. It's like they putting it into the trade screen hoping the CPU is stupid enough to accept them.

Was also the first reported offer that leaked out. It'd be wrong to believe that's their best offer when it's likely their "feel it out" offer. Every team low-balls until the opposing trade partner tells them to up their shit.
Yes, thank goodness for more cap flexibility. We can sign another four year, $20M role player. Cap space is irrelevant to me in trade offers unless we're moving multiple bad contracts on our side.
Or... We can just realize that Flip hasn't had an offer blow him away (can't blame him) and he's going to keep Love. Again, a bad return isn't better than no return.

I would trade Kevin Martin for that. Kevin Love? I wouldn't trade Love for that if he had one day left on his contract and a broken leg
