I like it. A kid with a great basketball IQ and championship pedigree.

Of course, this is the kind of news that makes Q afraid we are drafting Okafor! ;-)

I know some on here will roll their eyes. But I wouldn't hate it either. Kid has been successful at every level. And is very young. Would be fun to watch.

I dig Jones. He's smart. And I think he does quite a few things well.

I don't dig his size. Or relative lack of speed. But I'd be in favor of nabbing him anyway.

DX has us taking Connaughton at 36. Flip did say he's looking for backcourt help and shooting with the 2nd round picks. Connaughton for depth would be cool...

You can't under estimate the value, from a marketing perspective, on drafting the local kid. (as long as it isn't Rick Rickert)

Too bad we don't have a future 1st rounder to trade... (although I still am in Payne's corner!)

Is there a semi-reasonable possibility we could send them our 2 2nd round picks for #18 and take back Jones in our trade exception as a separate deal? That might be selling low for them.

Actually, draft picks have no monetary value if the pick has not been signed, so no exception is needed.

Cam would be tickled pink if we took back Jones in our Brewer exception, but somehow, I think Houston will find something better for that #18 pick.

Duh, that makes sense. It's still early in the day for my brain. I agree it would be unlikely they would trade Jones for just a couple 2nd round draft picks and also give up their first in the process.

After what we saw with the Kevin Garnett trade last season... marketing is a very very big part of this regime's decision-making.
