With Jordan snubbing the Mavs in the worst possible way they have little choice but to bite the bullet and tank. Carlisle has just one year left on his contract and may not be interested in waiting out the re-build that is just now getting under way.
So, if he decides he would rather move to a team further along in their rebuilding effort who would welcome him to Minnesota next season? Do you think the Wolves would be enticing to him? Do you think there will be better options? And finally, do you think Flip would step aside for Carlisle?
Rick Carlisle
Re: Rick Carlisle
I have no idea if he would have interest but I think if Cuban wants you I am not sure you leave.
In my mind Carlisle is one of the best coaches in the entire league. He can coach both sides of the ball and I think can coach regardless of the type of talent that you have as long as you have talent to work with.
I doubt he goes anywhere the Mavs will probably stay good enough to be interesting. Chandler sounds committed to being there and Matthews if healthy is a heck of a player. They need more talent but they have the resources to get it.

I like Carlisle, but Flip wants to coach. If Flip was going to hire a guy he would be a nice get. But Flip wants to coach.
