I'm really confused as to how exactly GS is going to improve greatly by trading Klay and Love Light for Love. Lee gives you 75% of Love's production so the Love for Lee works out to a 25% gain. Unless they have someone who can step in for Klay at an equal level I just don't see why GS is so hot for Love.
From the Wolves perspective I like this deal, Lee will be a good player for at least one year after which he's a valuable expiring contract. The only obvious downside I see is not getting another top pick in a very strong draft but I can live with that as I think Klay will excel with Ricky running a more free wheeling offense and Lee may actually put up better numbers too.
Because Golden State is getting the clear best player in the trade and without a doubt a top-10 player in the NBA. That's how a team gets better when making a trade like this. Love is far and away a better player than Lee. Martin would have the same job on offense that Thompson does/did.

We'll have ZERO star players and several good players making too much money. No draft picks is just the cherry on top (or according to Broussard's dumbass, we lose No.13).
I'm not interested in Golden State as a trade partner unless there's a way to flip Lee to a third team for assets, meaning top-10 draft pick or young prospect with good potential.

Spot on Camden. The only way to hopefully come out a head trading a star player is by stockpiling picks. Getting second and third tier players in return only keeps u in draft day purgatory.
Getting a package heavy on players and light on draft picks is so inadequate for us. We would remain in that NBA no man's land - not good enough for the playoffs, too good for top picks. Tired of it.
The more I think about it, the golden state deal have some flaws with it. klay might demand max or close to max and he is not that type of player. Lee has 2 more years at max and he will be difficult to move and a defensive liability. poor mans kevin love in that he cant shoot 3's like love. Barnes has good value even if he had an off year last year. the 2019 pick is too far away.
I think we may have been too enamored with klay. The guy is good but is he good enough to be the centerpiece considering he is expected to resign at a big deal and we will be taking lee's 2 yr deal along and no 1st pick until 2019? Makes me think..

Guys like Klay and David are the types of players u trade for to appease ur star player. Guys that are final pieces to the puzzle. Not guys u trade for and build around.
With the news of Faried and Thompson being "available" (like we didn't know already), hopefully Cleveland swoops in to take the cake, or Kevin Love in this case. Haven't been a lot of news coming out on that front. In the NBA, sometimes where there's smoke, there's no fire. Meaning the Denver, Golden State and Boston rumors are just rumors. Even the early Sacramento rumors of them being the frontrunners. Chicago and Cleveland have been somewhat quiet.

I don't want to continuously hope for lottery luck, we've been playing that game for 10 years without much to show for it. We need to become like the Spurs, draft smart, hang onto the good players, and bring in FA's at a reasonable price. The average draft position for the Spurs playoff contributors was 31, that's the 2nd round!

Agreed pork. The more I think about a deal with warriors, the more I dont like it. Klay is good but not max player or near max type. The lack of first picks is certainly a letdown. Lee's contract is bad for us. Barnes is nice and has good value but wont be enough.
Here's hoping embiid's injury is serious and legit and cavs trades us the 1st pick. Dont have to include waiters and thompson. ! of them or even bennet, gee, varejao would do. The 1st pick is what matters.
