Kevin Love being a jerk will be a headliner, but Kevin Love setting up his coat drive, or visiting sick kids in hospitals will never be mentioned. You'll hear way more about KG punching teammates then him donating millions to charity. Lebron raised millions for the girls club with the decision, but nobody ever mentions that part.
Just think if someone was paid to write interesting stuff about your daily life. I'm sure you and anybody else has skeletons in their closets that are way more interesting to know about then anything good you do. Doesn't make you a bad person. Your just lucky you don't have to live under the microscope that celebrity figures do.
No offense Alex I get what your saying and partial agree with you about the media. This article was written before he was a superstar. Plus you'll just have to take my word but I've hung out with Kevin like 5 times at sneaky Pete's cause I'm good friends with one of the girls he bangs from Augsburg and tbh he was complete douche every time I met him. He once asked me why do you even play D3 baseball your not going pro that's a waste of time and effort, I don't see the point lol.
I have the same impression of Love, although I've only met him once. But I've met and talked with a number of Pek's friends from Serbia. I can tell you that Pek can't stand Love. I'll leave it at that. Otherwise, like Long, I've base my view of Love on what I've heard come out of his mouth, not what others have written. And I don't confuse Love the person with Love the player. I know he's a great player and I've never advocated trading him in spite of the fact that he appears to be a jerk. On the other hand, I don't think Love is a positive influence on team chemstry and that may be an understatement.
I thought there was a connection with Pek on the court. I really think there is no way to bring him back. I think there is a lot of Marbury going on here once Rubio arrived for Love. I hope we get a deal like the Nuggets got for Mello.
I was really surprised too. Just to clarify, Pek respects Kevin's game and doesn't necessarily dislike him as a person. But he gets really irritated by Love's lack of effort on the defensive end and simultaneous willingness to call out his teammates. The team's PR department has attempted to portray them as a close tandem, but that's not the case.
Nevertheless, i have no doubt that Love and Pek can play together and be successful and I would still favor keeping Love unless we get a really good return for him. Winning is a great cure for team chemistry problems. With some roster tweaks and improvement from Ricky this summer, I think Flip can get this team to at least a 6th or 7th seed and compete well in the first round. I'm not predicting that will happen, but I think it's reasonably possible. I think Love would have a hard time leaving under those circumstances, especially given which teams will likely have the cap room to sign him. He might be willing to give up a fifth year worth $20 million to go elsewhere, but he won't take anything less (or significantly less) than the annual player max on a 4 year deal. So any team that wants Love will need lots of cap room and I'm hard pressed to think of a winning team that will have the necessary excess cap room. That means Love would need to get in on some multi-star collaboration like the LeBron-Wade-Bosh thing. That's easier said than done.

Not buying it Lip. Love wanted Pek to stay and wanted him to get the most money from his new deal. I'm also guessing their not the type of people to hang out together. Dont see love with much interest going fishing in serbia or wrestling bears or whatever it is Pek does. Also don't see Pek as someone who would complain about anybody.
If I had to guess, Id say Love gets along with the starters, but probably hates the bench guys. Especially that smelly dude Turiaf.

This is what makes KD so special. The guy seems like a good guy on and off the court. Is Love at least a bit of a jerk? Yeah that's no suprise but so are a lot of the star players. That's not an excuse but let's have perspective so many stars are jerks I think its worthwhile to realize that before in some cases what seems to me people pile on Love and saying "We don't want him cause he is a jerk" just because its more likely that he is out the door. Part of what makes the great coaches great is being able to handle all the egos and personalities of players. These are real people you aren't going to have a team full of happy go lucky angels in any group of co-workers. If we were lucky enough to find a star player like Love chances are he will be at least a bit of a jerk too. I know that some posters here have expressed their dislike for Love for a few years also so this isn't a kneejerk reaction.
The answer seems so clear now. If Flip wants Love to stay, he needs to put the fear of Pekovic into him. If Pek demands that Kevin stay, what is he going to do? Fight him? This isn't Darko we are talking about; he can't just apologize and walk away. No one walks away from Pek.
If you don't think Love is a complete wanker, you haven't been watching him very closely. I cheered for him because I want this team to compete, but I will absolutely root against the guy the moment he's gone. Not because he left. Because he's a supremely unlikable dude. An arrogant, entitled, selfish, and (in some respects) delusional guy.
By the by, I actually dislike most modern NBA superstars. Can't stand Blake Griffin. Don't like Melo. Hate Wade. Hate Kobe. Not a fan of Harden or Dwight. The most gratifying thing about seeing the Spurs win it all is the fact that I actually LIKE all of their players. Would have been happy for the Thunder, too.
