Re: Klay has been made available
It's not 100% that Milwaukee takes Parker or Wiggins. That Exum rumor is still flying around and it wouldn't surprise me at all. They have decent bigs (Henson/Sanders), a two-way wing (Giannis) and they supposedly want to move Knight to SG. Exum would fill that PG hole and he does have high potential due to his size and explosiveness.
I'm not arguing that they should go that route, but it is still in play.
PS: Thad Young has a player option after this year, khans. Lee's deal is two years whereas Young can leave after one.

Re: Klay has been made available
I guess the Cleveland situation comes down to whether or not they strongly believe Embiid, Wiggins or Parker will become a superstar. And while all three of them have shown signs of greatness, and none of the three look to be outright busts or even close (see Anthony Bennett), I just don't see Cleveland being sure enough to pass on a player like Kevin Love. And if Lebron might be in play (but only to an attractive team), then it becomes a no-brainer.
This is not wishful thinking from a Wolves perspective, I honestly believe Kevin Love has far more value than the #1 pick in this draft, and any team who doesn't see it that way is taking a serious gamble of missing out on a sure way to improve their franchise.
If the Cavs keep the pick, a few years from now they might look like geniuses. But again, do they feel strongly enough about one of the above young players to take that gamble? If you were Cleveland's GM right now do you keep the pick or scoop up Love while you can?
For me it's an easy decision. I go after Love but try to get him by giving up as little as possible with the #1 pick.

MN - Klay and Thad Young
GS - Love and Martin
Philly - Lee, Barnes and future 1st from GS
Philly just lost their shot at Parker and Wiggins with the Embiid injury, so why not snag a decent SF prospect to go along with the 3 and 10 picks for the right to overpay Lee for 2 years. They can take Embiid and roll with a Lee/Noel/Embiid frontline. Lee has one less year on his deal than Thad even though it is for twice the money. They have to hit the salary floor and Lee is a perfect candidate to give them someone to pay who won't ruin their rebuilding effort. A MCW/Gary Harris (10)/Barnes/Lee/Embiid (3) lineup with Noel as the first big off the bench would be a good rebuilding effort. I think Noel is still at least a year or 2 away from being ready for the NBA size and strength and to polish off his offensive game and that is perfect timing for Lee's deal to be up. We stay competitive with Klay, Thad and 13. GS gets their offensive juggernaut. The biggest reach in this deal is Philly, but their attitude could very well change with the Embiid news that just lost them a shot at Parker and Wiggins.
Klay and young for love and martin? Not a good deal.

Misty, you say it's an obvious decision and Love is worth more than the #1 pick, but you're looking at that in a vacuum. If you're Cleveland, you better be sure you can lock down Love long term or you just gave up the #1 pick in a hot draft for a 1 year rental of a top 10 NBA player.
I think that's markedly different than the assumption that Love will stay with the Cavs if he's traded there. If they get him and the Cavs don't get LeBron, then Love's going into next offseason in no better situation than he was with the Wolves this year, and he's gone.
Not saying they wouldn't pull the trigger, but I don't think it's overly likely unless they're CONVINCED they have a great shot at LeBron.

Yeah fair point and obviously Cleveland would have to believe they could keep Love. Love did make the comment about "Cleveland having a nice foundation," and aren't Love and Kyrie buddies? Or am I just thinking that from the commercials?
You would think Love and Kyrie in the weak Eastern conference would be a solid playoff team, but I guess who knows.

Not to mention Love could waive his right to opt-out of his deal. Stay in CLE for two years. At some point LeBron will be available and don't think Love isn't smart enough to know this. A young 20s Kyrie and a 26 year old Love looks as good as it gets if you [LeBron] want a chance to win rings in the future.

Re: Klay has been made available
If love goes to just about an Eastern conference team they are a playoff team, and you've got to think Kyrie & Love get Cleveland to the 3-5 spot in the East. Love would have to turn down more money and an easier path the the playoffs & championships if he wanted to leave. Not to mention the fact the #1 pick was gifted to the Cavaliers this year makes this trade a little easier for the Cavs to make the move to win now. The rumblings that Kyrie might want out would slowly be forgotten if they were competing in the playoffs. Draft picks might take too long to mature into solid options for a hopeful playoff contender and by then it could be too late.
I think Cleveland at least makes an offer centered around the #1 pick and in my mind it's almost too good to pass up

Re: Klay has been made available
I'm still not convinced Cleveland will offer these trades, and I do not believe their offer or the GS offer is the best. Why do many people not like a trade with Boston? Love has visited there and has expressed his intention to reach out to Bill Walton about playing for them. They have Rondo who ensures Love is still the number one option. Humphries contract is expiring. Paul Pierce has talked about returning. Not to mention Melo could possibly be in play assuming they shed a bit more salary. They have a high draft pick, a draft pick in the teens, future potential lottery picks, young assets, and a couple decent vets.
Love and Martin for #6, #17 or1 future Brooklyn pick, Olynyk, Sullinger, Bass (expiring), and Bogans(contract voided instantly).
Yeah, we suck next year, but that is what im hoping for. I don't want to be a fringe playoff team and risk losing our pick to Phoenix. I want to be terrible and have a top 5 pick next year to add to Rubio, Pekovic, Dieng, Sullinger, Olynyk, Shabazz, and whatever we pick up this year in the draft. Sounds a whole lot better to me than doing a GS trade or Chicago trade and remaining slightly competitive but no better than we were with Love.
Many here post their dislike for Olynyk and Sullinger, but we could do worse for 2 players that are both under 23, and under their rookie contracts for 2 and 3 years. They make valuable contributions, and will only get better.
With Bass and Barea we have a couple of expiring assets worth about 11mil. They could possibly be flipped for a better fit this season, or we hold onto them to save cap for a Rubio extension.
If we take the #6 and #17 picks then I believe we take Vonleh/Randle and trade both #13/#17 to ensure we get Stauskas.
Rubio /Barea /Shved
Brewer /Stauskas
Shabazz /LRMAM /Budinger
Sullinger /Olynyk /Vonleh
Pekovic /Dieng /Turiaf
Maybe Smart and Stauskas instead?

Worst trade package I've seen yet. Two picks, three PFs for Love and Martin. Should we give them Rubio and Pek too? Damn. Let's throw in 13 while we're at it.
