What skill set does Zach have besides an ability to jump high?

Zach hasn't done anything to merit the kind of belief that he'll be a cornerstone piece, yet this organization is practically living and dying with the hope that Zach can one day run point. It makes ZERO sense.

What skills does Zach have besides the ability to jump high? Here you go: (1) great speed/quickness, (2) good ballhandling skills, (3) very good FG shooter (accurate, excellent range, excellent form), (4) excellent FT shooter.

Is Zach a PG? No!! Should the organization be counting on Zach as our future PG? Absolutely not!!! Flip said this past summer that Zach's not a PG. at a recent season ticket holder gathering Andre Miller was asked about Zach's struggles playing PG. Andre responded quickly and emphatically: "Zach's a shooting guard." The only one who doesn't seem to understand Zach's not a PG is Sam.

Martin will be moved. Jones/Miller will be given more run.

And LaVine will move to SG. All in time...

[Note: Right? RIGHT? It simply makes too much sense. Although I don't really dig the Miller backing up Rubio option. I'd prefer the backup to bring something else to the table than the starter to inject a different kind of life to the team in spot duty. Miller and Rubio are both facilitating non-shooters.]

Tay had over 30 mins last game and Bazz had under 20. Sure teach him a lesson for bad play but then bring him back in to show that he's learned. He has a right to be frustrated as I can see it.

According to Sam, players can only develop in the off-season so playing Bazz more won't do anything for his development.

I don't know how anyone could read that comment from Sam and still think he has much going on between his ears. Yes, he was condescending. Nothing new there. But the more important and slightly less obvious take-away from Sam's comment is his less than stellar intellect. Wow! He goes from saying he intended to play the young guys so they can develop to saying players only develop during the off-season. Not Sam's first self-contradiction, but a pretty epic one.

I was optimistic about Sam, but I agree with you 100% Lip. Granted I am partial to Bazz, but I just don't get how you can't reward his effort. Yes he makes bad decisions, and yes you can yank him for that. But put him back in the game to give him the opportunity to learn. I really think Mitchell believes that if he wins more than expected he will keep his job.

The only other possible angle I see here is that Milt and Glen are angling to move Tay and Martin for a PG and need to showcase their abilities. If this is how it plays out then great, otherwise I am off the being nice to Mitchell bandwagon. (Sorry Tim)

Tay certainly isn't being showcased. Sam likes his defense. As for Martin, I think he's a good candidate to be moved and so showcasing could be a factor, though I also think Sam might like Martin's passing and more disciplined defense when compared to Bazz.

I understand that is his logic, but if isn't translating to wins it does nothing as a teaching moment. There is not evidence through winning to point to and say "this is how it's done", and the whole point of playing these vets at this team should be for that reason. Sam is playing Tay and Martin for the nuanced differences for what they bring and we are still losing games. It is foolish. Give Bazz more PT, at least we'll see some heart and hustle out there.

If the Wolves could only turn back the clock about 10 months so they could make one of those trades...
