I am to the point I am ready for take it or leave with Love. I am fine letting him walk next summer if we don't get the package we want. We might as well go one more year and see what happens. If Love is so unhappy he can walk and take the pay cut. If he pouts we can bench his ass and play for ping pong balls.

Boston can offer both picks and vets. Bradley and Green are attractive to me when they combine it with the picks they have.
Re: this article sums up my thoughts exactly
This is a well done article. Brit didn't go down this path but the reality is that building around Pek is a failed idea. If you trade Love unless you get lucky and get the perfect package and hit on draft picks Pek should be traded before the year is over. He is a guy that a team that hopes to contend has on the roster not a team sort of rebuilding is and thats what the Wolves will be if they move Love. I think Brit makes a good point as to why you hold onto Love and thats why there is some possibility that Flip and Glenn saying they will isn't just some ploy or moronic idea they have confused themselves into. It actually makes sense on some level to give it a whirl and hope you do enough to keep him. If Flip can shore up the bench that could be pretty significant. If a young guy steps up to be a starter level player then things get even more interesting. Blah Blah blah optimism. lol
Re: this article sums up my thoughts exactly
Its a well written article and he went a different direction but IMO its pretty much a done deal that if you trade Love then Pek is next. Building around him makes no sense. I think Brit outlined why the stance Flip and Glenn have made publicly on Love that they are going to keep him actually makes sense as a real stance not a ploy. Like he said they have alot of info we do not have.
EDIT sorry for 2 posts it didn't look like the first one went through. Vote for the one you like better! lol

It's a good article. I agree with Brit that if we had any chance of keeping Love beyond next season that chance slipped away with the team's disappointing finish after a series of cap-stressing moves by our front office. And I agree with Brit on the sort of return we should expect for Love as well as his view that the Bulls are the Wolves most likely trade partner. Finally, I agree that Pek should be dealt soon after dealing Love unless we get a high level defensive PF like Gibson in the Love deal.
I didn't see anything in Brit's article to suggest he thinks we should hold onto Love given the likelihood that Love will leave after next season. I disagree with Brit's conclusion that the $2 billion sale price for the Clippers gives Glen more time to bottom out for an extended period of time. Even if the Wolves' market value has gone up significantly based on the Clippers' sale (not necessarily a safe assumption), Brit ignores the fact that the higher market value means nothing to Glen unless he sells the team. Lower attendance and lower advertising revenue for a longer period of time means bigger yearly operating losses that would not sit well with Glen nor any other owner. Glen doesn't want to sell the team.
As Brit said, we don't know what Flip knows. He may have heard more from Love's camp than has been reported and he may have heard offers other than those reported in the media. But recognizing our limited knowledge, I'm with Brit that we should trade Love this summer.

I keep seeing Bradley's name brought up and isn't he a RFA so to get him the wolves would have to sign & trade right? Then under the new CBA you can't pair sign and trade players with other assets right? So he can't really be involved in a Love trade unless it's straight up.
Unless he's traded prior to the new NBA year/when free agency begins. Essentially there is a deadline to the Boston trade if Flip insists on Bradley.
Am I way off on this?
EDIT: I couldn't find anything on my thoughts on sign-and-trades. I thought there was something quirky about them other than being limited to 4 years for the re-signing player.

Re: this article sums up my thoughts exactly
Just because someone willingly overpays for a franchise, doesn't mean the value of Timberwolves goes up proportionally. Franchises in well run leagues appreciate over time as it is. The Clippers were a special case, in a special market, with a special roster, and a buyer who has few peers. That portion of his reasoning is off base.
I also disagree that it takes a seasoned front office to make a good lottery selection. I wonder how our roster would look, and how many playoff series we would have already won had I controlled our draft picks over the last 6 years. How does Rubio, Curry, George, Love, and Pek sound?
IF, and that's a big IF, we trade Love, we need as many high draft picks as we can get. We don't need the oft injured Al Horford, we certainly don't need Kyle Korver, and we don't need David Lee. I hate the notion that just because we effed up the draft for years, it's a bad way to build a winner. San Antonio retools through the draft picking late every year. I'd love to have 3 number one picks for the next 3 years. You don't have to hit on all of those picks, just enough to surround Rubio with guys who can play and take advantage of his special skill set. It really shouldn't be that hard.
So I find plenty to disagree with in the article. But when all is said and done, I feel you make a deal if it gives you a chance to rebuild quickly with the draft and cap space being the two most prized acquisitions. If you don't get that, make Love walk out on his own and build from scratch that way.

I'm just excited for CLE to pick 1st again and have that player get injured next season. Misery loves company.
