When your owner comes out and says " well this isn't what we wanted by whatever" " I really wanted the GM and coach to be separate but whatever" It's not the impression you get that the franchise is heading anywhere positive.
Who cares what our owner says? If it was a Mark Cuban, I'd understand. If it was an owner who knew basketball, id understand. If it was a good owner, then what he didn't want to happen wouldn't happen. You want to say we're doomed because OUR owner says these things?? I'm glad Flip took the lead. Bout time someone tells Mr. Taylor to sit down and shut up.
because your owner is the number 1 reason why the franchise is what it is....
Which is exactly why we need someone else in there calling the shots, cue Flip. Taylor can just keep his checkbook open and watch games. Taylor has always made terrible decisions, I don't place any value on what he says. Thank god Flip found his way back into this organization. Otherwise we'd deal with more of the likes of Kahn, McHale, Wittman, Rambis, Casey, etc... No thank you
I've been wondering if Flip and Kevin will shake hands the first time the Wolves and Rockets play? There were some pretty hard feelings between the two when Kevin fired Flip though it's been a long time and hopefully they've moved past it.
Zgoda tweets that Flip is pursuing David Blatt as an assistant coach. Now it's Zgoda, so who knows about the validity...but it makes so much sense. Golden State has also been rumored to be in pursuit, but if Blatt wants to be a head coach, that's not going to happen for awhile in Oakland. But it might in Minneapolis. We don't know anything about Flip's contract, but I suspect it's open-ended, and he could give up the reins as early as next year. What a great position for Blatt! Plus, it would be great if he could duplicate the success he had with Alexey Shved two summers ago. What a coup...bring a guy who may be our future HC and pick up a capable back-up PG in the same deal.
It's just Zgoda, but I'm guessing this one could happen.

If they got Blatt, it would be the weirdest coaching squads ever. You would have two super hard nosed assistants in Blatt and Mitchell, and the complete opposite head coach, in the super passive Flip. You would think you would want it opposite.
Nobody more connected to the Jewish sports scene than Shlomo Sprung. He says Blatt is deciding between us and the Warriors. Blatt said yesterday he had no interest in "just" being an assistant in the NBA. I would argue that the Warriors' job, working for a young coach with a long contract, is "just" an assistant job. The Wolves job seems to be much more appealing to him.
Okay, I leave town for a couple of weeks and you guys let THIS happen?!?
So I listened to the presser, the 1-on-1 and the VanGundy/Funkadelic (thanks monster!). I am completely on board with Flip coaching this team. It sure seems he is the best available coach that is WILLING to take this job. Two comments he made struck me:
1) "I am a better coach now than when I was here the first time." With his runs at both Detroit and Washington, I have always thought he would be a better coach than what he was the first time with the Wolves, and it's reassuring to hear Flip say it as well.
2) "This team is built for zone defense, but Adelman wasn't a zone-defense guy." Our inability to get stops at critical times was absolutely our Achilles heal. I like Flip's perspective on how he would have handled the defensive end different than Adelman.
Many of you have great comments on why the Flip hire is the right one at this time. I agree. It certainly makes sense to get the roster stabilized and playing well in order to attract a quality head coach down the line that you believe in.
