My summer wish for Kevin Love is that 5 teams in the East become completely enamored with the idea of having him. They all believe he is the piece to put them over the top to thwart the heat. This drives the price up huge where we receive a solid vet or two, a young prospect player, a high first round pick this year, and multiple first round picks in the future. Flip has no choice and pulls the trigger, coaching a terrible team that nets us a top 5 pick next year so we don't lose our first to Phoenix. That is all.

I am not necessarily favoring one outcome versus the other wrt a trade. My only hope is that we make the best move for the fans and team moving forward. I believe that is based on the value coming back in a trade. I see four possible scenarios, with the first being a great offer that moves Love, and provides us with a top pick, a young talent, and possibly another future first (Cleveland).

For those that don't believe we can expect that back for Love, I think we need to explore three other options. The first of which is taking a lesser offer, which likely means a top ten pick (6-8), in which case we better hope to hit on our one chance. That means another miserable season next year, and possible many more to come.

The next option is trade with a team like Chicago, where he get back Taj and their two firsts, but this likely locks into a late lottery team for the next five years.

The other option is too hold onto Love, and make a run at the PO's next season, providing the fans with some much needed excitement. This option comes with two possible outcomes, with the first being Love re-signing, and the other that he walks away. If the later comes to pass we will be a lousy team the following season, but will likely see a top five pick the year after.

Other than getting a great offer, it seems like keeping Love really has no downside to it. It gives us one more competitive season, while pushing back a rebuild by one year.

My reading comprehension may be lacking but what I think Cool really said was he wants to see how Love likes a PG who jacks up 25 shots per night.

He needs to play with Brandon Jennings.

So it's come to this huh? This is the point where everyone turns on Kevin Love. God forbid a guy goes somewhere he has a chance to win. Yeah, screw him for thinking he deserves that. Top 10 players are supposed to piss around with terrible organizations that disrespected them. No way that Kevin's thousands of hours in the gym put him in a place where he has the right to be employed by competent people.

I respect what you're saying, ace...it does seem a little petty to turn on your team's hero. But I cant help it. I;ve turned on him. I have to admit my vengeance character defect came out when I read Cool's lead post in this thread. I don't want Kevin to be successful if he elects to leave the Wolves.

I think I understand where this emotion comes from. Many of us Wolves' fans and especially those on this board, devote a lot of our resources to this franchise in the form of money, time and energy. All we ask of the players we cheer for is that they care as much as we do about how this team does. We generally don't demand perfection on the court, just that the player give his all and be a good teammate. It's why we generally like Corey Brewer and Ronny Turiaf, even though they are much less skilled than Love.

Yes, the front office and coaches have made some glaring errors. But we have a new coach and a relatively new PBO, and even though you can discuss the merits of Flip's first year, I would argue that any errors he has made are not in the David Kahn glaring category. Many of us would like to see Love give the new regime a chance, or even further, take some of the blame for the shortcomings of the team in the past few years. To pout about being given a 4-year contract rather than 5, or having ill will toward an organization that is paying you millions of dollars to play a game, just seems unbearably petulant to me.

I also admit I am fickle, and will cheer for Kevin if he chooses to be a T-Wolf and admire his remarkable skills. But his personality rubs me the wrong way, and I will never have the same devotion to him that I have for my kind of guys...Turiaf, Brewer, Rubio, etc.

But he went to Boston for the weekend and went to a baseball game! You should be outraged!

Ace, there aren't many bigger Love supporters than me. But let's be honest, he's not been an angel throughout his time here. He's thrown teammates under the bus. He hasn't always hustled after questionable calls. He doesn't expend nearly as much effort on defense as he should. And this whole passive aggressive posture of his has gotten old. He has every right to exercise his options under his contract and under the collective bargaining agreement. But in no way do I feel sorry about the way he's been treated here.

This is sports. Whats does being a righteous and noble person have to do with sports? For me, it's Timberwolves against everyone else. If Love does not want to be a Wolf, then he is just another player to beat. Go Wolves!
