I want them to keep Adelman's bigman coach. I wouldn't mind Sam Mitchell, Billups, and Cassell on his staff.

Re: Flip Named Wolves Head Coach
What we don't know about this news is much greater than what we do know, so it's difficult to evaluate it at this point. We don't know how Love feels about it. We don't know how long Flip intends to coach. We don't know why this "coach in waiting" doesn't just start in 2014-5. We don't know how many potential coaches turned Flip/Glen down.
But based on the information we currently have, this news disappoints me. Sid Lowe is perhaps my least favorite Wolves' player/coach, and epitomizes mediocrity in my opinion. Flip as a coach doesn't piss me off, but it also doesn't inspire me. I was hoping for more.
But I'm nowhere near the ledge, because I suspect that much more will be revealed in coming weeks. Phenom's suggestion of Blatt being the mystery coach in waiting is really interesting to me. Seems to make a lot of sense to give him a year of NBA experience. I don't know what to think about the Billups rumor, but I think it sounds mostly favorable.
Let's see how this unfolds.

Give me a job as an assistant lip, or should I say Flip. But seriously, I will never doubt your Wolves predictions again. All I can say is at least it is not Sam Mitchell or Del Negro. But wow, shows you how much pull Taylor has if he let Flip walk in and snag the top exec and coaching job in less than a year. Taylor need to sell.

Shocking news! Lip, don't give yourself too much credit, a lot of us saw this coming. You're right LST, we may get more details about Flip's intentions later but I doubt we'll get any "coach in waiting" news this year.
I guess I really only care how well this team performs regardless of coach/trades/picks. I'll hang around as a fan if I see a playoff appearance next year, but anything less and I'll check out.
Bringing the old mediocre band back together, HOOOWWWWLLLLLL!!!!!

Re: Flip Named Wolves Head Coach
A lot of back-patting going on with some on this board that predicted Flip would succeed Adelman (I'm not one of them...didn't think it was going to happen), and they should be commended for a good prediction.
The premise of many (most?) of you, though, is that this was a grand plan orchestrated by Flip from the start, and that doesn't jive with things that we know, or are strongly rumored. Had the crazy Memphis owner not made a bizarre last-second save, Flip/Glen would have hired Dave Joerger as the coach. Zgoda also blogs today that a source says there was a time during the search that Flip thought he had convinced Tom Izzo to be the next coach. This tells me that although he didn't seem to want to hire an NBA retread, Flip did make a bona fide effort to make an out of the box hire. Who knows who else Flip tried to hire...Hoiberg? Blatt? Nobody will convince me that the Love uncertainty didn't play a major part in the reluctance of Flip's choices to take the job.
I'm not excited yet about this conclusion, but I'm ready to be pleasantly surprised with how this plays out...especially if we find out there is an attractive coach-in-waiting. Ay any rate, I like the idea of Flip for a year or two better than the idea of a longer-term hiring of some of the retreads that were discussed.

Get KG as the big man coach, Billups as the PG coach, Wally as the shooting coach, Mitchell as D coordinator and the coach in waiting as the head assistant helping manage everything.

Mad dog as the Dance Team coach.

Madog as the Dance Team coach.
Nah Tuiaf as player coach is good enough there Flip had that covered already. Genius
I've eat crow in that I doubted Flip would end up with the job but as LST said it does look like Flip did actually look for a replacement and if a couple options would have said yes Flip wouldn't be coach.
Flip has a chance to save/change this franchise that's what every basketball mind dreams of. Man I hope he foes at least a decent job.
I am not excited about Sidney Lowe but my comfort is maybe he is like a Mike Tice type who is a really good assistant and gets promoted up because he was good at being a fantastic line coach and judge of talent there. Maybe that's Lowe really good at whatever that he got opportunites as a HC and sucked bigtime. I can hope right? Lol
Mitchell as an assistant might be good because it might be nice to have a fiery leader around the lockeroom.
Like others have said if there is a coach in waiting type I think people will like Flip coaching a lot more.
