Say what you want about memphis but they did the right thing and retain joerger. Yes, they probably intender for joerger to leave thats why they allow the interview in the first place but they were hit with backlash and the wolves were taking their time on this and ultimately memphis back out.

All we had to do were speed up the process, offer 1 of the 3 2nd round picks that im sure we are going to end up selling anyway or draft a player that will never play for us and get it done quickly. instead we move along slowly, taking a passive aggressive approach instead of being aggressive and get it done quickly and move on to other things. Now we lost him just as we were ready to commit to him. Typical wolves, losing a close one at the buzzer. Sigh

It is also possible that Memphis made some calls to replace him, and were being rebuffed by other coaches due to the volatility in their FO. I just think it was foolish not negotiate the compensation before hand.

The thing is, memphis will always have the final say on this and can drag it out as long as they want since they have the guy signed. Where the wolves blew it is by dragging their feet on this, setting up meeting here and there, every other day blah blah and trying to not offer compensation when we will probably sell the picks( we did sole the 26th pick in the 1st last year!) and draft a player never going to play for us anyway. We got too cute again, thinking we will caught a break when we never caught 1.( does not ever winning the lottery ever thought us anything?)

I was getting impatient last week, We should have went for it the moment he became available, offer a 2nd that we are going to sell anyway and get it done quickly. Instead we give memphis a lot of time to change their mind and when they couldnt get their ideal replacement, they just retain the guy that won them 50 games and push a healthy okc to 7 games. Why he was made available was a folly on memphis part that we again failed to capitalize immediately. Typical wolves!

I think it's pretty clear what happened. He only got consideration because he had Minnesota ties. Once Taylor and Flip realized that he had never been with the Wolves organization or was a good buddy, he was cast out! Bring on Sam Mitchell, bring on Billiups, bring on Cassell! Who else has Flip coached that would be a candidate? Oh wait that's right, Flip is going to coach like everyone thought from day 1!

Man how can Love not want to stick around with this gem of an organization

If the rumors are true that the griz wanted to swap first round picks, a second and cash, I am happy the wolves didn't do it. It is a weird situation

If the grizz did ask for that, its just their way of saying fuck off, were not giving you joerger.
Even they kno0w the wolves know better than t o agree to that. its basicaly them giving the wolves a reason to say no and save face even if it ended up making us look more pathetic. We were made to look like fools again period. Taylor, mchale, kahn, flip, no matter who is in charge we just look bush league.

Said this Friday: "Sure, we could wait around and try to wait for them to fire him. I just don't think that's the smartest move. Anything can happen when you don't take initiative."

We moved too slow. Hopefully a window of opportunity opens yet again. Sam Mitchell doesn't do anything for me as this team's head coach other than me being happy he's off NBA Network.

Ive said it countless times. Flip and company drag their feet and didnt pounce on it when they were ready to let him go. Now memphis change their minds because they finally come to their senses that they will be making a big mistake in letting go of a 50win coach who push okc to 7 games.

Flip and company thought they were smarter than they are and failed to realize that they are dealing from a position of weakness and should have pounce on it quickly when the window was open to grab him. What do we need 3 second rounders for? to sell it which is likely going to happen? what the fuck happened to the 26th pick we had last year in the 1st round? We sold it along with malcom lee' 800k salary i believe. Again, flip misread the situation. Sigh

The reports say they wanted to swap firsts. How do you know they didn't play hardball on that thus making us turn down the trade because he isn't worth falling out of the lottery for? This isn't as simple as we just didn't offer them enough second round picks. If they played hardball on swapping firsts, then we did the right thing preventing them from fleecing us for a coach when we need more help than just on the bench. A lottery pick in this draft is a lot different than the 26th pick in a draft where you already took two other first round picks prior. Can't blame Flip and crew if the only way to get him was to give up a lottery pick for #22. Not worth it in my opinion given what is probably going to be available at 13.

Khans, If you follow reports, it was being reported that we didnt want to give up anything for joerger when he was made available. Not even a 2nd. We believe we could have him for free. Thats what doom us. That makes flip thinks he actually has any power in this when he dont. Drag his feet and then memphis change their mind. Realize that they are making a mistake and retain their coach by sweetening his deal which they can because he is under contract to them while we are outside looking in all along.

I believe the pick swap is a mve by memphis knowing full well that nobody would agree to that and basically telling us to back off cause we aint getting him unless we make ourselves even more of a joke around the league.

This off-season has already been crazy. C'mon basketball gods. I'll take Sam Mitchell at head coach as long as we somehow end up with Jabari and Stauskas. Fair trade? Cool, thanks.
