Just traded to Denver in the Ty Lawson to Houston trade. He apparently will be waived shortly. He is certainly the kind of "vet PG" I wouldn't mind seeing Flip go after.

He is a vet and has played in the playoffs he is a very good 3 point shooter and get a lot of steals and is a low turnover guy. I am interested.

I see the long term as more important, having Prigioni take minutes from what could develop into a long term solution is foolish. Prigioni is a 38 year old who struggles to put up 4pts a game and has no long term value to MN. I'll take that back somewhat if he is a great teacher and can add value by way of mentoring but If MN were to add PG depth I'd rather see it via another young player. You give them all a chance to thrive and via competition the strong rise to the top and the weak fall into free agency.

Well, he would make Tyus Jones seem athletic and KG seem young...so there is that.

Sometimes developing a young point guard can be to the detriment of his young teammates. The young guys need the sets to be run smoothly. It's up to Flip to ascertain if Tyus is up for the challenge yet.

Prigioni, if about 5 years younger, would be perfect for this team. However, he's old, slow, and does only two things well; free and three point shooting.

I will concede Prig would be good at getting the team into the offense, and he's solid on the PnR, but to Tactical's point, Brown can get the team into sets, and he's better defender with more size and speed. Both players have their warts, but you develop the guy that can offer the same overall impact, and has room to grow.

So to me it's more about Brown vs. Tyus than it is free agent vs. the roster. Let's stop bringing in guys that are bad at defense. We have enough guys that are terrible, don't try, or will be green on that end.

I've said numerous times I am on the fence between keeping Brown or getting a vet. I do think people see Pablo and he is old doesn't score etc and overlook him. The guy can play and is gritty and does stuff that doesn't show up in the box score. The reality is if Brown turned in to a Pablo type impact player in 2016-2017 season we should keep him and sign him to a cheap 4 year deal or something. I just haven't seen enough of Brown to say how good or decent or uninspiring he may be. I want to be positive about him but I also want to stay realistic about him too. Long term adding Tyus I don't know if there is a role for him but it's not like Tyus is a sure thing either. The Spurs seem to be able to develop backup PGs all the time. Maybe we should follow that model although it's a little easier when it's the Spurs with Duncan etc. lol

What I like about Pablo is he is a guy that in his NBA career has played a wide variety of roles a from starting to bench guy to deep bench guy etc. if he was interested in coming here he seems to be a guy willing to accept whatever role. My guess is though he will have other teams that may have a better role from him than what we can offer while also being more legit winners. I'd be somewhat pleased if we got him but also would be expecting to end up moving him to another team via trade.

This whole post sort of makes me lean towards just keeping Brown and if he isn't up to the task cut him and find someone else that's better. Worst case scenario bring back Telfair he can run a team. He will either be available or if he isn't that means someone else of that ilk will be.

I don't think he is the answer. We need a backup that can play up to 28 minutes a night Rubio gets injured. I don't think this dude could handle it.
