Disturbing Article
Re: Disturbing Article
I'd trade for the Pelicans just because I would love to root for Davis every night. I trade the Bucks coach with ours.
Re: Disturbing Article
I would do the trade with San Antonio if it would include their whole management and coaching staff.

I don't agree with the list. But I'd trade our roster for the Bucks.
Can we just get J. Kidd as coach instead of trading rosters?
P.S. I hate J. Kidd as a human but the man can coach!

Meh. There are so many stats out there you can make a case for Philadelphia being the best team in the league if you take only the stats that support that argument.
Lists like these are meaningless. But they do reveal which authors simply regurgitate numbers in a vacuum and which ones do a bit more critical thinking.
I don't get the Portland one. Vonleh and Aminu are already cast-offs. I'm also surprised the Magic are that low. There's no superstar in the bunch, but it's a solid core that should see a 10+ game improvement this season. I don't see how the 76ers are that high given the criteria (how many of those guys gave credible performances in the past?)
But hey... he's the paid writer. He must be smarter than we are.
[Note: I also dig how Troy Daniels is listed as a key young player. Maybe if the Wolves kept the journeyman one-trick pony... they'd be in the top 10?

I took digs at the article but I guess really they are just trying to make a living and do something that adds to the conversation. Still it's hard to take that seriously when the Celtics #5 on the list yeah sure they made the playoffs but what young guy they listed you would be really pumped about acquiring? Anywho this is the most optimistic about the wolves I have been since idk when and I am more cynical than I have ever been.
Re: Disturbing Article
I take a long hard look at the bucks, magic, pelicans, and the jazz. (The 76ers and Celtics as well if you acquire their picks as well, but we'll leave that out.)
Looking at the magic and bucks, I see a lot of positions/ potential as a wash. I also see no one on either team with the star potential of Wiggins, lavine, or towns. Add that to shabazz and die ng who can be very good role players or good starters and we have a step up on them both with starters and a bench. The most important part for me though is cap space. Both teams are already paying some core players big money where our potential stars and extended young core are all on rookie contracts and it is very likely we can keep them all for the next 6-8 years.
The pelicans roster outside of Anthony Davis isn't exactly noteworthy, but he has the very good possibility to take the reigns over from LeBron as the #1 player, and as a big he can impact the game tremendously at both ends of the floor. Him just being on our team would attract top end talent and for that reason you do the swap as Wiggins, towns, or lavine likely ever reach his level.
Utah is a wash for me, so I wouldn't mind trading for them or keeping our roster as I like their roster makeup just as much as ours. Gobert and favors are a hell of a big man duo on both ends, Hayward is a fringe star, Burks is a quality starter, and if exam improves his scoring I think he may rate better than rubio. Trey Burke is a better backup pg than we have, lyles could be better than any backup we have, and the rest of their bench is steady. The only downside is 2 players are already making big money.

Yikes. How the promising have fallen.
I'd contend that A LOT of NBA folks would still consider the Bucks' Jabari Parker ahead of Lavine. Remember, Parker didn't play poorly and he'd have been right there in the mix for ROY with a legit chance to win it over Wiggins if you extrapolate out the stats and team results over the season. Others might say the two-year development from Giannis A. is pretty impressive too.
And then you could look at a guy like Oladipo in Orlando. He showed legit improvement in Year 2. I don't know how one promising stat-stuffing stretch while losing EVERY game for LaVine suddenly catapults him on the list. Granted, I think Oladipo's ceiling is limited somewhat... I think he's much more likely to hit a higher ceiling than LaVine.
For me, LaVine is the wild card. There are too many variables there to group him with the likes of any of these guys (and especially Towns and Wiggins) based on what we've seen.

Today we're ranking the top young cores across the league using projected three-year WARP.
Re: Disturbing Article
Abe I don't know why you compare lavine and parker.
I see it like this if considering 3 years... rubio, Lavine, Wiggins, shabazz, towns, dieng potential > mcw, Middleton, giannis, parker, Monroe potential. They may be a team that can contend better now (in the east mind you) but I see 4 one way potential players for them and 1 potential star on both sides in giannis. For us I see 3 potential studs on two sides in lavine, Wiggins, and towns, 2 who are already very good at one side of the ball or elite in certain categories in shabazz and rubio, and one who is good on both sides in dieng.

I feel the same way about Orlando although I believe they look better long term than the bucks with a lot of defense and potential offensive weapons in oladipo, hrzonja and of course vucevic.
Utah has the best mix of both in my opinion.
