Bennett's issue is between the ears clearly, haven't Wolves fans been tormented by physically gifted but mentally deficient players enough the past decade? The years of Beasley and DWill were enough for me, I don't have it in me to remain positive about AB for an extended period of time. High ceiling players who cannot get off the floor (figuratively) are the worst kind of tease!

I can't imagine why we'd trade Bennett for Morris or any other PF. With Bennett or another PF obtained in return for Bennett, we would have 4 pure PFs in KG, Payne, Bjelica & Bennett/Morris/other. In addition we'd have 2 center/PF combos in Dieng and Towns. That's 6 roster players who play the PF position. And that's without Robbie Hummel. To say we have a glut at the PF position is a gross understatement.

Keeping Bennett makes the most sense because his contract comes off the books after this season and I don't see us getting anything of significant value in return for him right now. If we don't keep him, it would make sense to deal him for a PG since we have only one true PG backing up our starter and that one backup is a rookie who most experts don't see as a starting caliber PG. Otherwise, we should trade him solely for future draft picks and/or non-guaranteed contacts to clear a roster slot.

Personally I see Bjelica as more of a small forward. Sure he'll get burnt by quicker 3's, but no worse than he'd get overpowered by stronger 4's. Think Hedo Turkoglu.

Kiwi - I think Bjelica can play both also.

Rubio, Wiggins, Bjeclica, Towns, Dieng lineups would be a big team.

As for AB (and Payne) I say you pick between the 2 and dump the other one like we did with JJ to
fill out and balance the roster. I would love to have Ridnour and an Adrien type here on the bench at vet minimum. (I really wanted Scola, but he is going to Raptors)

I will take back my earlier speculation on why Bennett was missing from the scrimmage since the naming of the team for Canada for the Pan Am games is the 18th which only a few days away. At least there are a couple other guys on that team I like so its not just Bennett to watch if I can see any games. lol

on the plus side it looks liek Bennett will be playing for both the Pan Am games and some Fifa qualifying games. The Wolves may have something decent to go on before they even get to training camp.

I didn't even think of that angle, but international competition has to be better than summer league competition right? Less guys trying to get their numbers to make an NBA roster. Better team play to see how he plays in a system this year. More real games to evaluate before making the decision on his option.

Khans - I agree with what you are saying, but it is less time for AB kiss up to Ryan. Also looking at who is playing with that doesn't look like the best that Canada has to offer. He should dominate that group.

AB hasn't shown any level of dominance since college. Even if it's in a slightly tougher tournament than the summer league we have to see it. He just can't put up any more bad performances and has to start throwing in some dominant ones or he has no chance of staying with the Wolves. Nothing he's done for the last two years has shown dominance so seeing it would at least be a step in the right direction even if it isn't a good translation to the NBA. His issue is confidence so a dominating performance would be a good sign going into this year.

Yeah AB should look really good in the Pan Am games and it SHOULD be a better showcase because a lot of the guys for team Canada should be part of the squad knowing what the team concept is etc. what we are talking about with Ab showing something reminds me of when Adleman told Williams to dominate in SL and with mixed results at best.

I don't think the quality of play in the Pan Ams will be as good as Summer League actually. SL has draft picks plus D league guys who might have a chance of sticking on a roster. Pan Ams will be mostly D league guys who don't have a chance of making the NBA. AB absolutely has to dominate this competition. Maybe if he does, he will get his confidence back.

But I think Bennett has better chance of being featured in the Pan Am games than he does on our Summer League team with Jones, Brown, Zach, Payne and Towns all needing minutes as well.

The talent might be better, but the team play likely won't be. Most of these international teams have guys who have been in their system for a while. Meanwhile these summer league teams are made up of guys from everywhere so the continuity isn't really there.
