Jim Pete really went after Lavine repeatedly during last night's telecast

Post by BloopOracle »

Did anyone else feel this way? He seemed so crabby last night even my gf who is a passive fan a best asked me why he was being such a dick lol. Zach was lost a lot but he was scoring and learning, I was just kind of surprised. There was a stretch where Jim went off on him 4-5 times in one stretch of play between timeouts.

He had 4 turnovers in 5 possessions when the game was tired, that is why and they were all dumb turnovers

Jim Pete is kind of a dick for such a shitty player. Maybe it is his inner dialogue of being traumatized by all of his coaches. I get that when you see someone with as much talent as Zach you want them to capitalize, but he gets a bit too preachy for my liking sometimes.

Yeah Pete has been getting on my nerves these past few games. Nothing to the extent of Dave Benz with his stupid goddamn numbers, "The Nets have now scored X points and that is bad news for the Wolves, as the Nets have a record of 28-7 when they score X points by the third quarter." Holy christ he does that every game and it drives me nuts!

But Peterson is right to criticize LaVine when it comes to certain things. LaVine needs to learn from his mistakes which he clearly hasn't done when it comes to passing. He continually throws it at the rollers feet, throws bad bounce passes, and leaves his feet far too often without the intention of shooting.

I just don't like when he overhypes guys on the other team. His love affair with Glen Davis pisses me off the most.

How about him talking about how much he likes Matt Barnes the other night? Threw up in my mouth a little bit.

I would be crabby too if I had to be the color guy for this team a lot of nights. There have been nights were Pete has just uttered vocal sounds of disgust.

I feel like Pete has praised Zach for enough things in games I have watch and so if he rips him for some stuff that's likely true it's ok with me. I didn't see this game in question so maybe he was too harsh.

As bad as this team is and how undermanned they are where do you call it how it is and when do you just gloss over? Wouldn't it be nice to have some meaningful games for these guys to comment on? Not letting them off the hook they are getting paid etc and I would love to have that job but it has to wear on them also.

I'll just say that Pete has raised the level of my basketball knowledge by watching games and there are some other announcers that also do a nice job of explaining the game and pointing out things that have made me a better player. I'm not going out of my way to praise Pete just making an observation that even though I am older I've improved in a few ways by watching wolves games. Weird right? Lol

Didn't see the game... didn't hear the comments.

But the worst thing about watching/listening to regional sports is when the local announcers are rubes... or treat its audience as rubes. It's insulting. When a team is on pace to lose 65 games... things shouldn't be painted as fuzzy rainbows and unicorns.

The Twins go that route. And it's embarrassing. Peterson is generally pretty sound... he's improved a lot. Coincidentally, I find him being better now than early in his broadcast career when he was more of a shill for the local basketball team. He offers nuggets... with an occasional head scratcher.

All in all... a better than average color guy.
